Monthly Favourites | May

Hello everyone,
Can you believe that it is the end of May already?
This may be my last monthly favourites as i think i may turn them more into a weekly thing mainly because of the make-up mix up im constantly using different products on a weekly basis so it's harder to select favourite products for the month when im not using them for that length of time. So i think it will be more practical to do it weekly - similar to these i will keep the product choices to a minimum.

Anyways onto the Favourites:

Urban Decay Book Of Shadows Volume II Eyeshadow Palette:
This palette is stunning and has such a wide variety of shades but there is one shade that is a particular favourite for this month and that is the shade Sellout.
This is a lovely golden brown shade and it provides the perfect base/all over lid shade for both an everyday and a night time look. Im a lover of neutral eyeshadows and always find myself drawn to them - and this one is no exception, ive found myself wearing this almost everyday!

Busy Bee Candles Wax Tart in Coconut Beach:
This wax tart is so nice, and smells really nice. Its fills the room and the scent stays strong constantly throughout it being burned. Im in love with these wax tarts at the moment and i am really exciting to try out all the other scents i bought!

Weleda One Step Cleanser & Toner:
This was a glossybox sample that my sister gave to me, and i actually really liked using it. There was a couple of things i didnt like about it which was the slight harsh feeling on applying it, and how dry it made my skin feel after rinsing it off. Now, im sure you'll be reading this and thinking how the heck is this in your favourites? Well, this product made my skin feel so clean it was unreal, i felt like it really cleansed my skin and i don't really know how to put into words just how pure and fresh my skin felt after using it, i moisturised my face straight after using it so the dry feeling on my skin was something that was easily solved.

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel:
I've been using this once a week for the past couple of months and i'm really liking it. It claims to gently exfoliate, purify and regenerate tired or sensitive skin. I wouldnt say it exfoliates your face much, but it definately does regenerate tired skin. It leaves my face feeling really soft and smooth. It smells nice and isnt harsh on the face either. Really enjoying using this product at the moment.

What have been your favourites this month?

Review | Mac Ruby Woo Lipstick

Hey everyone,
I bought this lipstick at the same time i got 'Chatterbox', I love red lipstick and i really wanted to treat myself to a high end one, because i own tonnes of drugstore ones and none have every become my 'holy-grail' red lipstick, so wanted to try a high-end brand and see if that could be changed. So after asking for some of your recommendations i was told about Ruby Woo by a number of people and after swatching it in store, i fell in love with the shade it's such a perfect ruby red.

Ruby Woo is described a very vivid blue toned red, if like me you're looking for a true red lipstick then this is the one for you! This lipstick is a retro matte which means it is quite drying on the lips due to the finish, so its important to keep your lips moisturised before you use this. Also, like with any other really bright lipstick, id highly recommend pair this lipstick with a lip liner just to prevent the lipstick bleeding. With a shade this bright it wont be as subtle to hide if it smudges down your chin.

The photo really does not do the shade any justice, so if you are interested in checking out this shade i would recommend going to a Mac store and swatching if for yourself, don't let the matte finish out you off because this lipstick is stunning and i feel i choose well!  I mainly wear red lipstick more on nights out rather than as a general day wear lipstick, as im just not quite brave enough to include it in my everyday make-up yet, maybe someday! I noticed that when i wore this it lasted for hours, i barely had to reapply this during the night.

Have you tried Ruby Woo, opinions?

X-Factor Auditions Liverpool

Hello everyone,
So yesterday i had tickets to go and watch the X-Factor auditions at Liverpool. I went them last year too and it was really fun to watch and it was nice knowing that a couple of the people who had made the live finals in the competition that i had seen them audition.

It's a long day to say the least because the tickets for it are free, it's basically a first come first served basis, so the earlier you are the better seats you will get. The tickets state that the doors open at half 10, and close at 11 so some insane people get there for half 6 - why would you? I'm not so crazy, so me & my sister joined the queue at half 8 and we still got some pretty awesome seats.

The queuing part is my least favourite experience, im not the most patient person and i despise waiting around yesterday however really did test my patience because the judges were running late. How? I'd love to know, they knew where they needed to be so they don't really have any excuses. Usually they wait until the judges have arrived so they can film them entering but the queue was getting so restless that they ended up letting some people into the arena - thankfully i was one of these people! But regaredless to that we we're still waiting ages, it ended up being about 12/12:30 when it actually started.
Dermot O'leary
Dermot O'Leary came on stage before it all started - hmm, lovely man! & the entire audience sang Happy Birthday to him then he took his place backstage ready for the acts who were going to audition. Inbetween the acts and also waiting for the judges arrive there is a man who basically keeps the audience occupied just updating you on whats going on and basically keeping us entertained - he was funny, but also pushed his luck a little bit at times in what he said but it was good to have someone who kept the mood going because the audience included myself were starting to get a bit restless waiting for it to start.

Judges Entering The Arena
The judges this year we're Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos, Gary Barlow and guest judge Geri Halliwell. I was aware of who the guest judge was and to be honest i was really dissappointed she was a terrible judge on Pop Stars: The Rivals and she was no different this time. She constantly took over from the other judges and acted like she was in charge and im fairly certaint she loves the sound of her own voice because even when the products were signalling them to hurry up - she didnt stop talking. So i'll be disappointed if they decide to keep her on as a judge for it because i find her highly annoying (obviously, this is just my personal opinion, but the audience kinda gave the same impression - everyone was getting a bit annoyed with her)

I saw some very interesting acts to say the least - none of them really blew me away which was a bit disappointing but there was definately a couple of candidates i imagine will be shown in tv for the comedy factor.

The day ended on a bit of a bum note because after all the delays and waiting around - there was a technical fault during the break which required the arena to be emptied and because the was an audience waiting outside (it's broken up into two sittings) they decided rather than keeping them waiting and letting us out and then back in, just to ended our sitting there - so we missed out on seeing 9-10 acts that should have been in our viewing so that was really disappointing but i was tired and hungry, and it had been a long day so i guess it was the right time to leave.

I had a really nice day overall minus all the hiccups, ive also got tickets for the X-Factor auditions in Manchester on 6th June so im looking forward to those :)

Have you got tickets for any of the auditions coming up?
Hope you like this post & you're okay!

Review | Mac Chatterbox

Hello everyone,
I bought this lipstick some weeks ago, and i have to say so far it is one of my firm favourites. I had been after a Mac lipstick in pink shade that i would be able to wear more during the day, the only pink shade from the Mac lipstick range that i own is Snob, which as much as i love it - i feel its more of an evening, night out, special occasion kind of shade. So after doing some hunting around at the variety of shades Mac have and looking at which was getting the best reviews - i came across this shade.

Chatterbox is an 'Amplified' formula which basically means the lipstick is meant to be more pigmented and provide a more opaque colour. Like most other Mac lipstick, the pigmentation is brilliant, to me this pink is a very bright yet wearable daytime shade that isnt too in your face. Even if you feel that this shade is too bright, you can blot the shade and lower the intensity or it. I read in a couple of posts that some people find this a bit drying on their lips but i personally havent experienced that issue, and if you do it's nothing that a good lip balm can't solve. I find this lipstick really creamy and easy to apply, it feels really nice on the lips aswell.

The staying power of this lipstick is about 3-4 hours, which is amazing but i love this shade and i love the lipstick so im willing to put up with that, i reapply my lipstick a few times when im out anyways so it doesn't really make that much difference to me.
I really love this lipstick and would recommend it to other people who are a big fan of pink shades or just Mac lipsticks in general!

Have you tried this lipstick, Opinions?

Review | Topshop Blush in Neon Rose

This is one of those products that has been really raved about throughtout the youtube and blogging beauty community, and seeing multiple posts and video raving about it - i was definately curious as to whether it really would live up to the hype that has been formed around it. Needless to say, i avoided buying it for a while because i just felt that i really didnt want to be disappointed by it especially after everyone saying it was such a holy grail product.  I did however, cave in a couple of weeks ago and decided to give it ago, surely with its endless amounts of review it can't let me down?

I have to say, i am in love with this blush i have literally used it every day since i bought it. I completely understand what the fuss was about and why everyone's been raving over this blush, its amazing. It is very pigmented, so a little bit does go along way but it does add a really nice natural flush to your cheeks and i think it would suit a lot of skin tones.
There are two other factors that i really like about this product, first one being the packaging - Topshop have really hit the nail on the head with the way they have packaged their make-up range, its so pretty and girly but without being tacky. It's also polka dots, which is if you've read my blog before you will know thats a winner for me.

Secondly, it's the consistency of the blush. It unlike any cream blush i've tried - i apply it with my fingers and it almost feels like its a powder but then when you apply it to the cheek it blends in like a cream. I'm so happy i decided to buy this - its definately worth £6.I really want to try more of the Topshop make-up range and more shades of their blushes, im so impressed with this item, and i really think its something everyone should have in their make-up collection.

I think it gives a beautiful and natural flush to the cheeks - i used very little on this image, you can apply more if you feel you need too but with most cream blushes i definately think a little bit goes a very long way. This is an item i would highly recommend, i just can't get give it enough praise - i think i might actually prefer this blush to the Mac Ladyblush, im thinking i may do a post comparing the two.

Have you tried this blush? What other Topshop Make-Up products would you recommend?

Review | Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer

I've got a review for you today and its of the Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer. My sister got me this as a part of my birthday present, i'd be after this for quite some time after hear a number of positive reviews on it. Concealer is a vital part of my make-up because even though im very lucky and get very few spots or blemishes, i suffer with ridiculous dark circles under my eyes - this being due to my sleep routine.

I'm still looking for that holy grail concealer but i have to say this definately does come close and is possibly the best ive tried so far - i got mine in the lightest shade!

Apologies for the finger marks!

The concealer has 3 steps to it: Step One is the more salmon shade is an under-eye brightening concealer. The salmon tone helps to balance out the dark circles, its really creamy and blends in really easy, i find i get the best results when i blend it in with my finger rather than with a brush but that may vary depending on what each person prefers. Step Two is use for the rest of the blemishes on the face and is described as a 'superware face concealer' this has a noticebly thicker consistency that the other concealer but it has really great coverage for blemishes, im very lucky and don't get that many blemishes but the odd spots i do get, which i've been getting lately (looming deadline) - this covers them brilliantly, again i find it better to blend with my finger rather a brush but that is personal preference.

In the top compartment of the compact is a transluscent powder to set the concealer, i've not seen many concealers that include the powder with them so i love that this one does. This helps set the concealer in place so it doesn't budge throughout the day. There is also a little powder puff that comes with it, and thats what i use to apply the powder.  I have noticed it's staying power did improve with the use of the translucent powder. Im really impressed with this, like i mentioned earlier i'm constantly looking out for the holy grail concealer and this most definately does come close. It covers my dark circles much better than most other concealers ive tried.

This concealer retails at £10, which i know is fairly pricey for a drugstore brand but i definately think that this concealer is worth that money and it's an item i would recommend to someone who is looking for a really good coverage concealer that is easy too blend and doesnt feel too thick on the skin. As far as im aware, Soap & Glory is only available in Boots.

Overall, im really impressed with this concealer!

Have any of you tried this concealer? Love/hate it?

Monthly Favourites | April

Hey everyone, i cant believe it's May already - crazy! I'm being really naughty and sneaking in a couple of blog posts to schedule before i get on with my hefty to do list of uni work stuff. Fun.

First off, i've decided that from now on i'm just going to select 5 favourites each month, because im still loving a lot of the products that i included last month and possibly even the month before and the last thing i want is for it to start getting really repetative and well boring. So i've just picked out 5 favourites for this month!

1. Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer in Light
This was a birthday present so i've technically only been using it for about two weeks but im really liking it. I'm not going to go too indepth about it as i do plan to do a full review on it soon but im really impressed with it, amazing coverage.

2. Topshop Blush in Neon Rose
I'm cheating a little bit by including this in my favourites, because i did only buy it last week - but i have to say it really is worth the hype thats been built around it. I will be doing a full review on it soon, once ive had more wear of it but so far im really impressed. I've worn it everyday since i bought it.

3. Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Sippin' n' Dippin'
I love these cream shadows, and they always creep back into my favourites. This is a peachy-gold shade and i love wearing it all over the lid, either adding a crease colour or just on its own. These past couple of weeks i've also been using it as a base and it made quite a difference in the staying power of the shadows. I really need to get my hands on more shades of these.

4. Gosh Soft 'n' Shine Lip Balm in Perfect Plum
I still can't believe its taken me so long to actually use this product. I love it, its creamy and moisturising and the shade is gorgeous too. This has been my go to everyday lip product. Read my full review here

5. Soap & Glory Girligo Spray On Body Moisturising Mist
I love this, i've had it for ages and somehow im only including it in my favourites now. Like all other Soap & Glory products it smells amazing and is very moisturising. Its also lasted me for ages, and i still have almost half left - such a great value for money.

What have your favourite products been for the month of April?

Also, don't forget top check out my giveaway - you can win the Topshop Blush mentioned in this post :) and also much more, im constantly adding things to it! So check out that post if you're interested.
