Review | Benefit They're Real Mascara

Photobucket

Hello everyone,
I have been ogling this mascara ever since it has been released, and now thanks to my lovely sister i own both the full and travel size (thank you, you're the best!!)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Out of all the mascaras i have ever loved none of them come close to how much i love this mascara - at first i was a little worried, because after lusting after it for so long and reading so many great reviews i was scared in case it just wouldn't live up to my expectations and the hype that surrounds it but it really does!

Photobucket

Photobucket

At the moment, I'm just using the travel size one (I've not opened the full size one yet) and i love it so much, the brush has thin plastic bristles which really help to coat every lash and they extend onto the tip so that it's easier to get at the inner corners and the bottom lashes. This mascara is perfect if you want to achieve the 'dramatic lash' look, it doesn't clump and it just lengthens the lashes really nicely.

Photobucket

Before & After!
These photos are pretty awful of my eyes, but they we're the best ones out of the selection i took. You can see just how much length this mascara gives to the lashes and this is with just one coat of it.
I absolutely love this, and i just can't praise it enough - it is definitely my new favourite mascara!

What do you think?

Life is too short and unpredictable, not to live it how you please.

Early hours of Monday morning i recieved some really sad and unexpected news - it was one of those things that really catches you off guard, so unexpected and so undeserved.

Lately, ive been feeling really unhappy and stuck in life - due to multiple reasons but the main one is  that im not enjoying my uni course anymore - i've lost the passion i once had and my heart just isnt in it anymore. I will be sticking out the next 5-6 months and getting my degree because despite it no longer being the path i want to take im still going to have an expensive student debt so i may as well get something out of it.

I feel like ive spent my entire 21 years on this earth consumed with education and planning for the future and during that time ive completely missed out on the present. I'm so tired of feeling pressure and stress because im expected to be someone and to go somewhere in life. I used to think that was what life was supposed to be about, getting a brilliant job with good money but its really not, at least its not for me anymore.

After this weekend, i was hit in the face with the realisation that life really is too short and it can be taken away from you at any time. I can't sit there pining over all the things i want to do, i have to make them happen. So i vow that once i've finished my course and ive graduated - im going to live my life, im going to have adventure, make memories and i'm going to cross things off my bucket list! I refuse to be one of those people who spends their life wondering 'what if?' - i want to look back over my life and rejoice in all the wonderful and crazy things i've done.

So im sorry mum, nan and all those people who expect me to be something but i can't do that anymore, i can't be that person. I'm tired of planning out my life, who and what i should be because all these things are whats stopping me from actually living it.

Life's is just too short - i refuse to waste it!

Review | Good Things Skincare

Photobucket

Hello everyone,
In a haul i did a couple of weeks ago i showed you this range of skincare products that id picked up and a lot of people asked me to do a review on them - I've been using these now for almost 3 weeks, so i feel Ive used them enough to give you a good insight and opinion on them!

"Good Things Skincare was developed by a beauty writer names Alice Hart Davis and she developed this range using her experience from the beauty industry. This range uses super fruit beauty booster in gentle and effective formulations which are specially designed to make the most of your skin"

Photobucket

Good Things Fresh Start Creamy Cleanser
I really enjoy using this cleanser on my face - it feels really gentle on the skin, and it leaves it feeling so cleansed and soft - i definitely feel like my skin feels better since using it. Beforehand my skincare routine went a little bit downhill because i was running out of everything so that affected my skin a little so this feels like its made a massive difference in livening (is that a word?) it up. It also smells incredible.

Photobucket

Good Things Face The Day Moisturiser
At first i wasn't so keen on this; the smell was a bit strange but once you start to use it, the smell does actually grow on you. I do like this moisturiser - its very hydrating and leaves the skin feeling nice and smooth. I don't think this is the greatest moisturiser i have every used but i do still like it.

Photobucket

Good Things Stop That Spot Clearing Gel
I was a bit wary of this at first, i don't get spots all that often I'm pretty lucky in that respect but when i do get them - holy crap they come at me with a vengeance usually things I've tried in the past haven't always been that great at clearing them up. When i first got this i had a selection of friends on my chin and i used this each night and they've actually cleared up now - i don't know if it because of this or whether its just over time they've disappeared but either way i liked using this on them, the only thing that annoys me about it is that as soon as you take of the lid product just seeps out so some does go to waste.

Photobucket

Good Things Five Minute Facial Mask
I love a good face mask, i try and use one on a weekly basis. Ive really been liking using this one, like all the Good Things range it smells incredible and fruity! I'm a bit naughty and leave it on longer than the suggested five minutes usually because i tend to wear it whilst I'm in the bath but so far its not caused me any problems - it does start to stiffen around the face which most face masks do but my face always feels really refreshed after using this, it almost feels firmer too - but that might just be because of how stiff the mask goes but yeah i really like this.

Overall, I'm really happy with this skincare range, my skin feels much better and i definitely think that it is down to this.

What skincare range are you using currently?

Review | Collection BB Secrets

Photobucket

Hello everyone,
I bought this at the end of September; i'd ran out of my beloved Skin 79 Super+ and i was originally going to buy the Maybelline BB cream because i adored using the samples i had gotten but for £7.99 the size of the tube is pathetic - so when i came across the Collection BB Secrets Beauty Balm on offer for £3.99 i figured it was worth a try.

Photobucket

Photobucket

This normally retails for £5.99 and is available from Boots & Superdrug (& some Supermarkets) - The thing i love the most about BB creams is that they work like a foundation but they aren't as heavy - i really enjoy using them but this BB cream just isnt for me.

Photobucket

Firstly, i will say that i do like the formulation of it and it is easy to blend out however, this does not offer as much coverage as i would like and i have to layer it up to get a decent amount but then i end up looking a bit cakey or it looks to obvious that im wearing it. My biggest issue with this though, is that it makes my skin look really shiny and oily after using it - The thing i like about BB creams is that you can wear it alone and be done, but with this one i have to pile on the powder to remove the shine from my face.

Photobucket
With Powder/Concealer/Blusher
With powder it is still wearable so i will continue to use it mainly because i hate wasting products but i am rather dissappointed with this BB cream. I have normal skin myself so i wouldn't really recommend it to people with a similar skin type to mine or people will oily skin because this will probably highlight it even more. However, this may be okay for people who have very dry skin.

Like always please take into consideration that this is just my experience and my opinion - just because it hasnt been great for doesn't mean that it won't work for you.

Have you tried this?

Review | Primark Ooh La La Nails

Photobucket

I've seen these nails multiple times when Ive been to Primark but I've never bothered to pick them up, mainly because i have a huge collection of false nails so i just avoid buying them - however, i got a pair in a giveaway i won a couple of weeks ago. So whilst i was procrastinating from uni work i decided to try them out!

Photobucket

I took this photo straight after i applying them and i also added the little nail sticker to my accent nail! I have to say these are probably the best set of false nails i have ever tried. If I'm wearing fake nails i always cut them down so they are short otherwise i just can't use them and these where the perfect size for me and the perfect fit for my nails. I really like how natural they look and they stayed on really well too, the only nail i had a problem with was one thumb nail and that was my fault it broke off because i pressed to hard against something instead of using my thumb itself. After re-applying it lasted a good few days before breaking off again but that was the only nail i had an issue with. (Obviously, once you do break a nail it doesn't tend to glue back on as well as it first does)

Photobucket

This photo was taken Saturday morning (20/10/12) so as you can see they lasted in pretty decent condition - i believe these are only £1-£2, i don't know exactly but these are really good for the price and i genuinely expected them to break off with hours of wearing them. I took them off on Saturday evening, and that was only because i was planning to take them off on Sunday anyways but i broke the thumbnail off again so decided to take them off. They actually came off pretty easy and I'm definitely going to pick some more of these up next time i go and maybe try some of the other designs they usually have too.

Have you tried these? What are your favourite false nails to wear?

Review | Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Make Up Remover

Photobucket

Hello everyone,
So i was a really naughty blogger and didn't take any photos of this before i started using it other than when i showed it in a haul - so i as you can see from the photo I've used almost half of it already!

I only paid £1.59 for this, from Superdrug but i believe it is actually around £3 - I'm not exactly sure, and I'm hoping that £1.59 is its permanent price but i think it was on a half price offer of some kind.
If I'm completely honest the only reason that i decided to be this other than its price was because its one of those products with the two liquids that you have to shake together to get the product (easily pleased, i know) but its actually turned out to be a pretty good judgement.

I do really like this make up remover, i wear a lot of eye make up especially eyeliner and mascara so its important for me to find a remover that is gentle but removes everything. The two halves of the liquid each have separate jobs: one is to remove the make-up including really stubborn products like waterproof mascara and the second half the formula protects the eyelashes.
This does actually remove the make up effortlessly, and it doesn't leave any behind it removes it all - i hate removers that are really harsh and you feel like your scrubbing at your eyes for ages and this is nothing like that - i rate this really high and would definitely recommend this to people who want a make-up remover that is requires little effort.

The only thing that I'm not too happy about with this is that when you're putting it onto the cotton pad a lot of product does come out so i feel like some does get wasted but I'm willing to live with that because it is a really good make up remover.

What's your favourite make up remover?

Top 10 | Autumn/Winter Must-Haves

Hello everyone,
I was originally planning to do a series of posts for Autumn/Winter showing my top 5 of blushes, nail polishes, lip products etc... for this season but i realised id probably just end up repeating myself on products i've mentioned time and time again and plus a lot of people are doing similar series. So, i decided that i would kind of combine them together and create a post showing what my top 10 A/W must haves are.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Good Things Face the Day Moisturiser, Natural High Night Cream
 1. Moisturisers
I like to keep my skin feeling really hydrated during the autumn/winters months because it can sometimes start to feel really dry as the days get colder. Its only recently that Ive opted for a night cream as i usually just use the same one day and night but i actually prefer using a separate one because this is really thick and moisturising. Moisturising isn't really limited to just the face either, i also really like make sure i keep body is well moisturised during the winter months for the same reasons.

Photobucket
Benefit Boiing Concealer in Shade 1
2. Concealer
I need concealer in my life all year round but around winter time i feel like its something i need more. Autumn/Winter is usually the time when everyone starts back school/college/uni so over summer my sleep routine ends up all over the place and when I'm thrown back into a routine i suffer and until i settle into a new sleep routine it plays havoc with my dark circles. (I hope that makes sense)

Photobucket

Photobucket
Mac Satin Taupe, Rimmel London Colour Burst Trio in Lynx, Clinique Colour Surge Eyeshadow Trio, Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze, Miss Sporty Colour Mono Eyeshadow in Sense
3. Eyeshadow
Nudes, Plums, Golds, Browns and all neutral types of shades really go well with the Autumn/Winter colour scheme and i really love it. I wear these type of shades pretty much all year round so that's one thing i really love about Autumn/Winter.

Photobucket
Nails Inc Saville Row, Barry M Mushroom, Barry M Raspberry, Barry M Navy
4. Nail Polish
In Autumn/Winter; i love to wear much darker and warmer tones - in particularly dark red/berry shades. I love red nail polish but there is just something much nicer and richer about a darker shade.

Photobucket
Carmex
5. Lip Balm
This is my saviour during the winter months. I get really dry chapped lips a lot when its cold so during the colder months i literally slather it on my lips and it works a treat. I mainly use this in a morning and before i go to bed - sometimes i wear it throughout the days too but it depends on it I'm wearing lipstick. Ever since I've been using this Ive barely had chapped lips, now it is a autumn/winter must have for me.

Photobucket
Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Mystic, Elf Mineral Lipstick in Nicely Nude, Mac Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme Cup, Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Candy Apple, Elf Mineral Lipstick in Runaway Pink
 6. Lipsticks
Very similar to eye shadows i love to use very natural shade lipsticks in Autumn/Winter but i do also love to include a bold red lip or a purple shade as these colours also go well for these months and are very often in trend.

Photobucket
Cien Moisturising Hand Cream
7. Hand Cream
I never used to use hand cream at all, and i now it is something that i hate to be without in my bag. This is for the exact same reason as number 1 - cold weather often leads to really dry hands and i hate it when they feel like that so like to keep them hydrated and moisturised.

Photobucket
Busy Bee Wax Tart in Christmas Cookie and Rhubarab & Custard
8. Candles
One thing i really love to do is burn candles, but during the spring and summer months its not so easy to do because on hot days the last thing you want is another source of heat. Candles make everything really cosy and i love the idea about winter and of course the lovely wintry/Christmas scents are amazing.

Photobucket
Nescafe Caramel Latte
9. Caramel Lattes
Hot drinks are another aspect of winter i love - there is nothing nicer than getting in from a cold day and having a hot drink; whether it be a cup of tea, hot chocolate, coffee etc... it's just perfect. For me my hot drink would be a caramel latte, i am obsessed with them.

Photobucket
Paco Rabanne Black XS
10. Scent.
I'm not usually one who switches up their scent to accord with the season i usually just wear whatever i feel like, but seeing as my latest perfume is coming to an end i thought id start a new one and throwing on the end of this top 10 because i was running out of ideas as to what else i should include. If you've never smell this scent before, please go and have test it - it's Divine.

I hope you liked this post!
What are your must have items for autumn/winter?

Book Review | Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

Ages ago i read someone raving about this book and how much they enjoyed, now i can't remember who that was but for years id had it on my 'to-read' list after a while it kind of slipped from my mind. I still wanted to read it but it was something that i'd stopped looking out for - i was in a charity shop browsing the books, there it was. For 10p, there was no way i was leaving it behind.

Photobucket
That book was Gabrielle Zevin's Elsewhere; it was quite an easy read, im assuming it was aimed for an audience younger than me but i enjoyed it all the same. The story to this is quite bizarre...
"Elsewhere is where fifteen-year-old Liz Hall ends up, after she has died. It is a place so like Earth, yet completely different. Here Liz will age backward from the day of her death until she becomes a baby again and returns to Earth. But Liz wants to turn sixteen, not fourteen again. She wants to get her driver’s license. She wants to graduate from high school and go to college. And now that she’s dead, Liz is being forced to live a life she doesn’t want with a grandmother she has only just met. And it is not going well. How can Liz let go of the only life she has ever known and embrace a new one? Is it possible that a life lived in reverse is no different from a life lived forward?" (Source)

Its such an usual story but its one that i found rather intriquing, unlike most books the story starts with the main character dying and we follow her journey into the afterlife. The afterlife comes in the form of 'Elsewhere', only in elsewhere life happens in reverse - so instead of aging every year, you lose a year until you eventually become a baby again and return to earth into a new life. This book follows her struggles to adapt to Elsewhere and let go of the life she once had on earth.

I thouroughly enjoyed reading this book, it was easy to read and i literally read it in about 2 days.
10p well spent!
Have you read it?

Bohemian Style Hits the Streets

Some of the top fashion designers heard our fall fashion cries, and responded with bohemian dresses. These dresses combine the great style of a maxi dress with the coverage that we need during those cooler months.

One of the looks that I’m really loving for this season is the boho meets motorcycle chic. While I love my motorcycle jacket, I never really wear it with anything other than jeans and tee shirts. Now I have a new excuse to pull it out of the closet. A long bohemian dress paired with a shorter motorcycle jacket and a leather cuff bracelet adds a rocker edge to something that looks like it came out of the 1960s.

Another great way to wear a bohemian dress is with a fitted blazer. Since boho dresses are often oversize and ankle-length, this jacket adds a touch of structure to the outfit. A boxy or fitted jacket keeps the dress from looking too much like a costume without detracting from its shape. Keep in mind that you should wear a jacket that complements the dress. A bright red jacket paired with a muted red pattern dress creates a look that anyone can take from the office to the nightclub.

With the right accessories and perfect pair of women’s shoes, a bohemian dress can make you stand out in the crowd. Budding fashionistas already know that they need to worry about balance, but balance isn’t as important when it comes to these dresses. Any type of oversized accessory can create texture to the dress, creating a dynamic piece that you will want to wear long into the summer.

The runways were aglow with models wearing chunky necklaces and bracelets. For an authentic 1960’s look, grab a wood bead necklace to wear with your boho dress. Chunky gold and silver necklace aren’t authentic, but those necklaces add a touch of glamour to the dress, giving you something that you can wear for a night on the town. I also love pairing a bohemian dress with an oversize fedora or hat. Hit the streets with a pair of knee high boots or ankle boots, and get ready for people to stop and notice you.

Most Worn Products | September

Hello everyone,
Seeing as i miss both fornightly favourites during September i thought i'd just do a round up post and show you the products ive been loving for the month of September.

Photobucket

Rimmel London Match Perfection Ultra Creamy Compact Powder in Ivory
You will probably have noticed that this product has been featured in many posts - although, i'm terrible for buying make-up im actually really good with face powder, i stick to one and use it up. I use this powder to set my foundation and my concealer and i really like it, its not heavy but really does help keep my face make-up in place.

Benefit Boiing Concealer in 01
Another product that features in a lot of my posts, ive got a couple of concealers ready to be used but im so close to using this all up that im sticking with it til the end. Its actually a good concealer, great coverage and its perfect for my dark circles.

Gosh Defining Brow Gel
Ive not really been in the mood for filling in my eyebrows lately so ive just been using this neaten them up.

Rimmel London Colour Burst Eyeshadow Quad in Bold Behaviour
Its only one shade that ive mainly been using out of this, a very neutral light pink shade. Ive just been sweeping this all over the lid for a very natural look.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation in True Ivory
This is one of my favourite foundations; i feel like it really does wake up my skin and give the appearance that is much brighter, it got good coverage for me (medium coverage, id say) Im starting to run out this and its not very often i use up a foundation so its a good sign when i do.

Benefit Bella Bamba
I've raved about this many times before on my blog so ill keep it short, fantastic blush - definitely one of my holy grail products.

17 Perfect Definition Eyeliner in Onyx
Ive been very laid back with my eye make-up and instead of the usual felt tip liner, ive just been smudging this black pencil into my upper lashline and tightline. This eyeliner is actually pretty decent it does smudges but its manageable especially, its also really pigmented.

Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil in Stormy Grey
I've been using this a lot lately, applying it under my lower lash line and smudging it. It gives a little smokey look to the eye which ive really been liking.

YSL Shocking Mascara
I still stand by what i said - its not worth the price tag, there are many drugstore mascaras that do exactly the same job. Saying that though, its a decent mascara and does lenghten the lashes.

Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Candy Apple
I adore this, it helps make a red lip much more wearable especially in the daytime - its so moisturising and i cant not praise this enough.

Mac Lipstick in Creme Cup
This was my alternative lip colour when i wasnt wanting to wear bright red lips, this is a gorgeous nude pink shade. Ive mentioned it a couple of times on my blog before this is definitely a staple item in everyones make-up bag.
