31. Little Things | January

New Year
New year is probably one of my least favourite holidays, plan always fall through or just never end up being made. This year it was really nice to bring the new year in with friends.

Real Techniques Core Collection
I finally own this. After received a refund back off my bank after a major mess up on their behalf i decided to treat myself. I was originally going to get the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay but i figured id wait a little long til i get that because id only just got the first one, so i decided to invest in the core collection as its another things id been eyeing up!

Reading More
Since Christmas i have read quite a few books, i set myself the challenge on Goodreads to read 50 books this year and i am so happy I've been reading more. Since i got the Internet way back in year 10 I've paid more attention to that rather than to reading. So I'm glad to finally be reading more.

Handing In My Web Deadline
After losing my usb pen will all my work on, it was a relief to finally have it finished and handed in!

I adore this TV show, but since moving from E4 to whichever other channel, its barely been on my screen so I've been watching it again whenever I've been in my room or had it on in the background when I've been doing work and i forgot just how much i love it. It still makes me laugh just as much as the first time i watched it!

Les Miserables
I watched this at the cinema twice - and i just love it. When i first watched it, i wasn't completely familiar with the story and only know a couple of the songs but oh my god, its amazing. The songs still haven't left my head and its been a good few weeks since i went.

Catching Up With Cara
I mentioned meeting up with Cara in a previous post, (i think it was a FOTD) and it was really nice to see her and to have a big catch up!

Handing in My Dissertation Draft
There were times when i genuinely didn't think i would make the draft hand in, it wasn't compulsory but i wanted to get some feedback on mine so I'd know if i was heading in the right direction, I'm still aware there is a lot of stuff i need to add or to change on my draft but to reach almost 7000 words was quite an achievement!

MUA Offer
This seems like a bit of a silly one to include but the brilliant offer they had meant i got to try products that I've been eyeing up. I managed to get such a large amount for a very little price tag.

Winning a Giveaway!
I'll be doing a post on this tomorrow as well, but i was very lucky to win a giveaway run by Chelsea

What little things have made you happy this month?

This month has gone insanely fast and i can't believe that we are almost in February! It's crazy that I'm already on post 30 out of 365 - are you all enjoying my 365 challenge?

So, my favourites for the month of January are:

Urban Decay Naked Palette
I've reached for this palette a lot this month; both for daily wear and for nights out. Its has such a versatile range of shades and they are fantastic quality. I love it and i couldn't recommend it enough to people. If you'd like to read my review, see here.

Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze
On the days I've not reached for my naked palette or the days when I've been in a rush, I've reached for this and worn it alone. It's stunning bronze taupe colour, its how i imagine Mac's Satin Taupe would look in cream form. They have good pigmentation and they blend really nicely on the eyes, they also work well as a base to your eyeshadows.

Benefit High Beam
I used to rarely reach for this, but since see i covet thee use it as a base before her foundation, on her cheeks and forehead - I've reached for it nearly everyday using it in the same way as her and i  really love the dewy glow it gives my face. I only use a small amount underneath because i don't want to look really shiny or shimmery. I love how glowy and healthy it makes my skin look.

The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter
I love this, it leaves my hair feeling so soft and although it doesn't completely get rid of split ends, it has left them feeling in much better condition. I'm not the biggest fan of the scent but i can cope with it - I'm so glad i decided to buy this because it was pretty much on a whim and it's become a staple in my hair care routine. I will be doing a full review on it in the next few weeks.

V05 Refresh Me Quick Dry Shampoo
I normally just stick to batiste when it comes to dry shampoo but this was on offer and I've been enjoying using a couple of V05 products so thought I'd try it. It's just as good as any other dry shampoo, helps prolong in between washes and adds texture to the hair when need. The things i love the most about this is the scent - it smells so nice, its got a fruity, floral kind of scent and i love it.

Mac Cremeblush in Ladyblush
Until recently, I actually fell out of love with this blush for a while, and i found myself avoiding using it. I don't know what made me try it again but I've really been loving it, it's such a nice colour and its almost been the perfect winter blush shade. It adds colour into my cheeks without it being over the top.

Raspberry Balmi
I really like this lip balm, i carry it in my bag with me so i have it on hand at all times. If I'm not wearing lipstick, this is my go to lip product and i always apply it before i go to be. It leaves me lip feeling nice, soft and moisturised and it smells really good too. If you'd like to see my full review, see here.

What products have you been loving lately?

29. Book Review | The Summer I Turned Pretty

 photo DSCF2084_zps5d4364da.jpg

I first heard about this book years ago when a youtuber (can't remember which one it was) featured it in one of her 'summer favourites', since then it's a book I'd always kept on my 'to-read' list but never got around to buying it. This was one of the books i received off my friend for Christmas and i genuinely enjoyed reading it.

"Everything that happened this past summer, and every summer before it, has all led up to this. To now. Every year Isabel spends a perfect summer at her family friends' house. There's the swimming pool at night, the private stretch of sandy beach . . . and the two boys. Unavailable, aloof Conrad - who she's been in love with forever - and friendly, relaxed Jeremiah, the only one who's ever really paid her any attention. But this year something is different. They seem to have noticed her for the first time. It's going to be an amazing summer - and one she'll never forget . . ."

You may have noticed that i absolutely love reading teenage books, although I'm no longer a teenager (sob) i just really enjoy them and they are such easy books to read so although i do read a selection of 'grown-up' books, i do actually prefer to read young adult/teenage books!

I read this book in about two nights and i really enjoyed it, it was such a light and easy book to read. Obviously, the plot isn't very ground-breaking or original - it does follow a very typical girl wants guy kind of format but there is a lot more to the story and to the characters - its easy to read and an easy way to lose yourself in a story for a little while. I was actually quite disappointed when finished reading this, so I'm chuffed to discover this is actually part of a trilogy and definitely want to read the others and see how the story turns out.

If you want a really easy, lighthearted 'girl meets boy' kind of story, then i think you'd really enjoy this book. I imagine that this would be the ideal summer read to take on holiday with you too!

28. Tag | Beauty Vs Brains

 photo tumblr_mg1vlg06Lb1r0mo06o1_500_zpsef219530.jpg
taken from tumblr.com
I actually struggled a little to think of what to post today, i have so many ideas for posts and i keep a schedule book so i have a rough idea of what days i want to post them on but i also like to leave some days free for any other things that might come up that i want to blog about. So, i had a little dig through tags Ive bookmarked on my laptop for if this occasion ever arised and decided to do one!

What's your favourite book?
I love loads of different books but the one that sticks out the most would probably be The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

What's you motto?
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.

Which do you prefer: English or Maths?
English, i struggle with Maths.

Which do you prefer: Science or Art?

Name 5 albums/musical artists that have changed you life.
I don't know because i don't think any have changed my life :| I'm just gonna list the five that i think have played the biggest part in my life (in other words, the ones i got obsessed with)
- Room on the Third Floor by Mcfly
- Symphony Soldier by The Cab
- Olly Murs by Olly Murs
- Every Kingdom by Ben Howard
- + by Ed Sheeran
So yeah, these didn't change my life but these are the albums that at one point or another id have on repeat.

What were your favourite and least favourite subjects at school?
Favourite was always art and i quite like RS as well because i really like the teacher. Least favourite was P.E, Maths and Science.

Who is your favourite celebrity with a brain?
I don't really know, well it's just never something I've really thought about. Now, the only person i can think of is Stephen Fry and although he is good he isn't my favourite celebrity.

What is your nerdy little secret?
There are loads of little things that i do that i think are really nerdy but now I've been put on the spot i have no idea :|

Who are your favourite beauty/fashion gurus whom you admire for more than just their beauty/fashion sense?
Zoella, Essiebutton, Fleurdeforce, Missglamorazzi, Cosmeticscharlotte72,

If you could study anything, anywhere, what and where would you study?
Ages ago i would have said something in London, but now i don't even know what I'm doing anymore. Maybe, a make-up course in London or something?

If your blog wasn't about beauty/fashion, what would it be about?
Probably just a general life blog, with book reviews thrown in.

Name something you are obsessed with that other people would find nerdy?
Hmm, I don't know because i wouldn't consider make-up a nerdy obsession, nor is collecting dvds (my collections a bit ridiculous for both) so i don't know!

Name 5 people, excluding friends and family, that inspire you.
Charlieissocoolike, Zoella, Marilyn Monroe, Buddy Holly and ... i don't know, I'm just picking out random people who i think are awesome for one reason or another.

Who will you tag?
Anybody reading this, that would like to do it :)

So yeah, i hope you enjoyed this tag and if you decide to do it, please leave a link below as i'd love to check it out :)
Hope you all had a lovely weekend, what did everyone get up to?

27. Tag | 50 Things I've Done

I came across this tag on Hayley's blog, and i thought it was a really unique way for you to learn some things about me and i thought it looked quite fun to do so i decided to have ago myself.

1. Got trapped in a toilet cubicle whilst on a night out.
2. Trapped my little finger in the boot of my nan's car, after my cousin and sister shut it (not on purpose) - i screamed so loud my mum thought id been run over.
3. Jury Service (2 Months of it!).
4. Watched all The Lord of the Rings Films Extended Editions Back To Back (12 hours)

5. Got a Tattoo (x3)
6. Passed out whilst watching Mcfly in Manchester (It was hot and crowded)
7. Watched Sister Act on the West End (AMAZING)
8. Been inside the Vogue House Offices in London.
9. Had my photo taken with a monkey (its an awful photo though so i ain't showing it)

10. Dyed my hair bright red!
11. Sang on the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool - i was in year 6 and my school participated in some choir show there.
12. Had my photo taken with a dolphin (another awful photo i don't plan on showing)
13. Had a Fish Pedicure
14. Performed in two different shows on my local theatre when i was in Y5/6 (Bugsy Malone & A Christmas Carol)
15. Tripped my sister up with an Umbrella when i was 7, i genuinely thought she'd see it and jump over - she didn't, instead she fell flat on her face and broke her nose. She still hasn't quite forgiven me.
16. Had my tonsils taken out.
17. Watched the X-Factor Auditions live, three times.
18. Woke up thinking my eyesight had somehow been cured, to realise i had put my glasses on in my sleep (talk about disappointing)
19. Met Bill Nighy when i was in London, well he walked past and waved when we shouted so it still counts!

20. Met Johnny Vegas on a night out, and had a good chat with him (He went the same college i went, and knows the tutors)
21. Fell down the stairs in year 10, and grabbed the nearest thing to stop me - which happened to be my friends skirt. (Thankfully, she ran pretty quickly alongside me that it didn't come down)
22. Sang on my own on a stage in front of people.
23. Done Life Drawing. (It was part of my course, drawing a naked 60 year old man for a 2hours a week!)
24. Apparently, had a fight in my sleep and head butted the wall.
25. Had an operation to remove an extra tooth, that was growing the wrong way.
26. Kissed a stranger.
27. Rode a bike into a parked car and into a tree (i had issues with my ears when i was younger which resulted in my balance being off, i still had stabilisers on my bike til a late age)
28. Read all the Harry Potter Books
29. Went to a drama group, and left because my best friend did and i was scared to go without her (Biggest mistake i ever made)
30. Finished High School with 10 GCSE's (all C and above)

31. Got my Monroe pierced.
32. Woken up to find a hammer in my bed. (Id left it there from the day before, i was putting something up on my wall and forgot about it)
33. Watched every single episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S - multiple times.
34. Had one of the worst years of my life in 2011.
35. Cried on stage during a performance at an high-school concert in Year 11 because i was leaving. (Which then resulted in the rest of the Year 11s on stage with me crying, and the entire choir behind us - oops)
36. Dyed my hair purple with a black layer underneath. The black somehow turned a green colour (It did not look pretty)
37. Woke my mum up in the middle of the night when i was younger to watch Disney Films with me  when i couldn't sleep - apparently this went on for a year.
38. Slept walked whilst staying at a friend's Nan's house and tried to steal her Nan's juice.
39. Had my belly button pierced when i was 13/14, needless to say it fell out a few months later and i lost the bar on the beach when i was on holiday.
40. Customised a summer dress and made it into a Halloween costume. (I really didn't fancy paying a stupid amount for something I'll only wear once)
41. Been egged.

42. Met Matt Willis
43. Horse-riding, i loved it until the horse once went crazy because the rain hitting the arena roof sounded like thunder and it tried to run off, with me still on it. (I haven't been back on a horse since, I'm much older now though so id love to go horse-riding again)
44. Had guitar lessons in primary school.
45. Started a beauty blog.
46. Filmed videos for youtube channel but cringed at myself that much i deleted them instantly.
47. Was playing at my-then-best friends house when i was about 9/10 (?), and somehow managed to kick her tooth out (it was an accident of course) Luckily, it was a tooth she was having taken out at the dentist - saved him a job ;)
48. Watched a film at the Cinema and then sneaked into another screen straight after.
49. Got up and sang on Karaoke alone. (Silly impulsive decision)
50. Had a bomb scare whilst at college, it was on the news and everything!

I tag everyone to do this!
I had a lot of fun writing this up, although it did take me a while to think of 50 things - please leave the link below if you decide to do it as i would love to read your 50 things!

26. Review | Mac Lipstick in Rebel

 photo DSCF1664_zpsc8f1e4f4.jpg
**It doesn't look this dark in person but this is how it kept coming out on camera and i didnt want to use the flash!

 photo DSCF1545_zpsebc6f6f0.jpg

 photo DSCF1674_zps86f7326f.jpg

Mac's Rebel Lipstick was on my wishlist for quite some time - after seeing my friend Charlie wear it so much, and seeing how amazing it looked on her - i was literally pining over the lipstick. Beth very kindly sent me this lipstick as a part of my secret santa present and i was literally squealing with excitement when i saw it.

Rebel isn't like any shade i have in my collection; it's a gorgeous deep plum-purple colour and although it looks really dark in the bullet it's actually lighter when swatched or applied to the lips. This lipstick is a very bold colour to wear, I'm usually one to avoid bold lips but i have actually worn this out a few times and i just love it. It just gives that edgy vampy look to your make up, although i would recommend wearing a more natural eye with it to balance it out.

Like all Mac lipstick; it has brilliant pigmentation and that lovely vanillery scent. Rebel is a satin finish; it's not a glossy lipstick but it does have a shine to it. It feels really great on the lips and it's feels quite moisturising too, it glides on the lips quite smoothly but id definitely recommend taking your time with the application, with it being such a bold colour it's easy to highlight any mistakes and its not the easiest to remove. Id probably recommend using a lip liner for a much neater application - i don't currently have one to suit it but I'm on the look out for one so maybe when i find one I'll do a separate post on that?

 photo DSCF2058_zpsc8fdb2b9.jpg
I am actually wearing a lip balm underneath in this photo which is why it looks really glossy!
I've found that the lasting power of this lipstick is really good, I've worn it out for a meal and come home with it still visible, less bold than when first applied but still clear to see the shade and that i was wearing lipstick. I adore this lipstick and i can not thank Beth enough getting it me, and for bringing it into my life. I love Mac lipsticks in general and this is just such a stunning colour.

Whats your favourite bold purple shade?

I've gathered some empties, again. Some of these are products that have also dried up or are just in need of being binned but i thought id share them with you anyways and give my thoughts on the items..

H&M Vanilla Kiss Body Spray
This smells amazing; i use body sprays a lot usually for when I'm around the house or even on days when I'm nipping somewhere but don't quite fancy using one of my good perfumes. If you love vanilla scents you will love this - it'd be the ideal scent for on holiday!

Nivea Pearl & Beauty Deodorant
I've used this before and i didn't think it was anything special then, i only repurchased it because i was in a hurry and remember i was running out of my deodorant and this was the first one i found. Its alright it does work in keeping you dry but i find it leaves white marks.
Rating: 2.5/5
Repurchase: No

Batiste Cherry Dry Shampoo
This was on offer when i picked it up, I've used Batiste many times before and i really like it. It's a great dry shampoo and the cherry one smells really good.
Rating: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes

FCUK Pure Bodyspray
I picked this up at a car boot sale and it hadn't been used, i think i got it for something like 50p or £1. It smells really nice - i don't know how to describe the scent it's like a oriental floral scent with vanilla and theres other notes in there.
Rating: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel
I was gutted when i last ran out of this but my sister very kindly gave me hers because she wasn't as fond of it. I enjoy using it, it left my skin feeling really nice and it has a pleasant scent to it as well - i will admit though that i reached for it less that i did first time round, still a really nice product but i just found myself wanting to use other products instead.
Rating: 3.5/5
Repurchase: Probably not.

Gucci Guilty
My sister collects empty perfume bottles and a few people we know often pass her theirs when they are finished, so she ended up with two of these and they both still had some perfume left in so she gave me this to finish it up. It's a much stronger and muskier scent than i would normally go for but it is nice.
Rating: 3/5
Repurchase: It's a nice perfume, but probably not.

Morrisons Savers Baby Wipes
I used these to remove the rest of my face make-up, they're super cheap and they do the job.
Rating: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes

Korres Evening Primrose Eye Cream
I wasn't sure if i liked this at first because its quite a thick cream and quite heavy on the eyes, but the more i used it the more i liked it. It was really moisturising, however, one thing that really annoyed me about this was that it was really hard to get the product out and when i finally managed to get it out too much poured out which was really frustrating.
Rating: 3.5/5
Repurchase: I'd like to but its a bit pricey for an eye cream so no.

Korres 3 in 1 Cleansing, Toning and Eye Make Up Removing Emulsion
I liked this product; it left my face feeling really clean when i used it - I removed my make-up before using it though because i wear a lot of eyeliner and mascara and i don't feel like I'm really cleansing my face when it just ends up covered in black mascara and eyeliner remains.
Rating: 3/5
Repurchase: Probably not.

Soap & Glory Flake Away
See my post on it here I really enjoy using this product, it leaves my skin feeling amazing and i love that even though its a scrub its not harsh on the skins, it really nice and gentle but still exfoliates the skin well.
Rating: 4.5/5
Repurchase: Yes

Rimmel London Match Perfection Ultra Creamy Compact Powder in Ivory
I had a hard time accepting that id used this up and was literally still trying to scrape the edges. I really like this powder, it set my foundation really well and it didn't leave my face looking like it was caked in make-up.
Rating: 4.5/5
Repurchase: Yes

Daniel Sandler Baby Jet Mascara
Ive held onto this way longer than i should have. I just thought it was just a genius little mascara - it made getting my bottom lashes so much easier and it prevented product from going underneath my eye and messing up my make-up. I'm actually keeping the brush to this so i can continue using it on my bottom lashes.
Rating: 4.5/5

Repurchase: Yes

17 Va Va Voom Blackest Black Volume Mascara
See my post on it here. It's an alright mascara, it does its job but i just don't really like it. The brush is quite large and this usually resulted in me getting it around my eye which is annoying. I just didn't find myself excited with this mascara.
Rating: 1/5
Repurchase: No

Rimmel London Professional Finish Nail Polish in Ruby Me
This is a brilliant nail polish, its a really nice formulation and applies brilliantly. This was my go to red polish, it's a proper true red and i just love it. Unfortunately, it has gone insanely gloopy and just horrible, but i have had it for years so it's time for it to go.
Rating: 5/5
Repurchase: Yes

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer Sample
I really enjoyed using this, I've had a couple of samples of it and i still don't know why i haven't bought it yet. It feels really nice and moisturising on the skins and acts as a great base for make-up.
Rating: 4/5
Purchase: Yes, i don't know why i haven't yet.

Benefit Boiing Concealer in Shade 01
I wasn't too fond of this when i first got it, and literally left it in my collection for a while. Until one day i decided to try it again and i started to really like it. It offers great coverage and helps disguise my dark circles and blemishes.
Rating: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes

ELF Studio Eyebrow Lifter & Filler
I bought this when ELF had a big offer on, a couple of years ago and it was when i first learning how to do my brows so i didn't really know if it was a good product or not. I then found other products and this was left gathering dust in my collection and forgot all about it. I came across it again a while ago when find products for a make-up mix up and decided to try it out and i just hated it. It left my brows feeling and looking waxy and it didn't even fill them in well.
Rating: 1/5
Repurchase: No

Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner in Black
This is my go to felt tip liner, it's cheap and works really well. It doesn't lose its colour quick like a lot of them can do, it lasts for ages on your eyes and it doesn't smudge.
Rating: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes

ELF Clear Mascara in Crystal
I used this as my brow gel, and it was actually really good at setting my brows and was a fraction of the price i spent when i bought an actual brow gel.
Rating: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Sample
I always like to carry a perfume sample of some kind in my bag just in case i either forget to spray myself before i leave my house or just in case i feel like freshening myself up. This smells amazing and i used it up in a couple of days because i couldn't stop spraying myself. To save myself describing the smell, its similar to Soap & Glory's Glam-a-lot body mist spray!
Rating: 5/5
Repurchase: It's a little too expensive for me, but if money was no object then yes.

L'Oreal Revitalift Repair BB Cream Sample (x2)
It was a while ago since i used these, but it was a nice BB cream, it didn't blow me out of the water but it was a bad product either. It was nice on the skin and had a decent amount of coverage.
Rating: 3.5/5
Repurchase: Probably not.

Montagne Jeunesse Anti-Stress Face Mask
See my post here. I enjoyed using this face mask, it was really refreshing on the skin and peeling it off the face was extremely satisfying!
Rating: 4/5
Repurchase: Yes

Hope you're well!

23. Share The Love | Essiebutton

I decided to start a series where once a month I'll select a blog/blogger who's blog I've really been enjoying and who i just think deserves a little mention! This is entirely my choice and my opinion, and it literally could be anyone. If i enjoy reading your blog, then chances are you will end up on one of these posts at some point. I've seen quite a few people doing 'share the love' type posts and i think its a great way to recommend blogs to other readers!

 photo oh_zps4fbd3f8a.jpg

For my very first 'Share The Love', i decided to go with an ole' favourite, a blog/youtube channel that everyone should know about and that is Estee from Essiebutton!

I fricken' love this girl; it makes me so excited when i see that she has uploaded a new video or done a new blog posts, she is absolutely hilarious and i just love the fact that she doesn't take herself seriously at all - she seems so laid back and down to earth! Without sounding too cringey or too fan-girl esque, she's the type of person i imagine I'd get on with really well.

It's thanks to Estee that Ive discovered some of my favourite products like Lush Eau Roma Water and the Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple, she one of those people that as soon as you see how much she likes something you immediately want it too (or maybe that's just me?) but literally, i always end up with page long wishlists after her videos or her posts!

Her blog has great quality photos, is really well written and features a variety of content. I can not recommend her blog or her youtube channel enough.

What blog or youtube channel have you been enjoying lately?

22. Review | Montagne Jeunesse Anti-Stress Face Mask

 photo DSCF2014_zps6e0bcfd8.jpg

A couple of days ago i was feeling a little lousy and decided to treat myself to a face mask, after rifling through my little collection i came across this Montagne Jeunesse Anti-Stress Peeling Mask that I'd picked up sometime before Christmas. Its been years since i last used a Montagne Jeunesse face mask, not quite sure why i just never found myself picking them up anymore.

The mask was a green gel that came out clear on the face, the cucumber in it made it feel really refreshing. I wasn't the biggest fan of the scent, but it is bearable and it really did leave my skin feeling really nice and fresh so the scent isn't enough to put me off.The thing i loved the most about this mask is that you can peel it off, i don't know why but i find it really satisfying to peeling it off.

I really enjoy using face masks, and although this mask doesn't really do anything to 'anti-stress' it did feel really refreshing and it was enjoyable to wear and to peel off!

Have you tried it?
Whats your favourite face mask?

21. Reading Challenge

 photo DSCF2027_zpsa12b237f.jpg

This post is going to be a quick one today - if you follow me on twitter you'll know that I'm in the middle of doing my dissertation, so I'm having to dedicate my time to that as my draft is due in tomorrow and I'm still needing another thousand words or so.

You may have noticed on my blog that I've been including more book reviews (i also have few more to come) i set myself the challenge to read 50 books this year on goodreads. I'm always buying books but i don't always get round to reading them, hopefully with setting myself this challenge that will change.

So for today's post i thought id share with you a couple of the books I'm hoping to read:

Northanger Abby by Jane Austen
Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby
The Host by Stephenie Meyer
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
Pretty Things by Sarra Manning
Guitar Girl by Sarra Manning

I'm really proud of myself because I've read 4 books so far this year, and I'm halfway through my next one. Reading was always a bit part of my life and in the past few years its something that has become something i do less and less so hopefully I'm going to maintain the routine that Ive gotten myself into and i will complete my challenge.

I'm going to be doing reviews for each book i read - let me know if you like reading those?
Have you read any of the books i mentioned or do you have any recommendations of your own?

20. How To | Nutella Hot Chocolate

 photo DSCF2043_zps570234ef.jpg

These past couple of days have been really cold and there is nothing i like more than to come home and make a lovely hot drink to keep me warm. One drink in particular that i like to treat myself to every now and again is Nutella Hot Chocolate - it's isn't the most healthy of treats which is why i only make it occasionally.

I first saw this recipe a few years ago when Missglamorazzi shared it on her vlog channel and I've loved it ever since. Its really simple to make and really tasty to drink.

You Will Need:
Cinnamon (Optional)

 photo DSCF2037_zps836b144e.jpg

Firstly, you want to heat the milk up in a pan - to get the right measurement i like to pour the milk into my mug first so i know that its enough for me, that way i don't waste any milk. You don't want the milk to boil so make sure to keep it on a low-medium heat.

 photo DSCF2039_zpsdaccc5bb.jpg

 photo DSCF2042_zps622417a3.jpg

Once the milk has started to heat up i like to add the Nutella - i usually go for about two spoonfuls but this is more dependant on your taste and how much chocolate you want, i find two is enough for me its enough flavour without being sickly. Once the Nutella is in there, keep stirring it as the milk is heating and once it's melted it will look like it does in the image above.

Pour it into your favourite mug and you're done. You can also add Cinnamon for a bit of extra flavouring and also whip cream to it make a more luxurious - I didn't have any whip cream on hand but i did add a pinch of cinnamon.

I look like such a dope on this photo!
This is a really simple recipe to make and its a really tasty hot treat to have on these really cold days we've been having. Missglamorazzi also has other hot drink recipes on her vlog channel so check them out if you've interested in trying other flavours.

Have you tried this?
Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

19. Review | MUA Eyeshadow Trio in Innocence

I saw this trio being featured quite a few times in youtubers videos and also on their blogs and it instantly had my attention, so i was over the moon when i received it in a giveaway at the end of last summer and i can't believe I'm only getting round to reviewing it now. Better late then never though, right?

This particular trio 'Innocence' is a filled with a gorgeous combination of neutral shades. I actually really like the packaging of this and i love the baked dome shaped eyeshadows; there aren't many products that I'm aware of that have the dome shaped eyeshadows so their quite unusually compared the regular pressed eyeshadows. The packaging is very simple and it does get a bit messy when you use them which is clear to see in the images above but i can live with that. It also comes with a little applicator for you to use but i prefer to use my own brushes.

All the MUA Eyeshadows are good quality and have great pigmentation, and this trio is no exception. The three shades are the ideal combination - their is even a little diagram on the back showing the best way to use them to create a perfect smokey eye. Their is a very light beige shade, a golden taupe brown and a chocolate brown which has undertones of reds and greens in it - i could imagine the lightest shade also working well as a highlight on the cheekbone as well.  These three shimmery eyeshadows apply nicely and blend together really well, the shades are also wearable individually for a more toned down look - i like to wear the golden taupe shade alone sometimes, it reminds me a little bit of Mac Satin Taupe, though I'm not sure if its an exact dupe (i shall have to swatch them together and get back to you).

MUA have really been upping their game with their products and they are all bank balance friendly. At £2.50, you really can't go wrong with these little trios - they are great quality and their are other shades available too.

Have you tried any of MUA Eyeshadow Trios?

Mac Lipstick in Chatterbox

I went out for tea yesterday with a really good friend of mine, Cara. So i thought I'd show you the make-up i wore - it was nothing overly fancy, just a simple neutral eye with a burst of colour on the lip. I always love catching up with her because its always so easy, even though we may not see each other for a while there is never that awkwardness that can sometimes happen and its literally like no time as passed and i love that. We went for a lovely pub tea and chatted about everything and anything and it was so lovely to catch up.

Also, i went to watch Les Misérables this week - twice, and it was epic! The songs have literally been stuck in my head since (hence, the title of this post) I knew some of the songs and i had an idea of the storyline but it was something i wasn't fully familiar with but i enjoyed it so much and I'm currently a bit obsessed with it - it did make me weep a bit towards the end but its just such a moving film and it just pulled me in so much. I really can not recommend going enough, especially if you're thinking about going, seriously go!

Have you been to see Les Mis?

17. Pen Pal Haul #3

I originally planned to do something different for this post but i received a package off one of my pen pals and it's been ages since i last did a pen pal haul. Mainly because my last package for delayed for ages with the Christmas post so Ale only ended up received my package after the New Year, which is really annoying when i sent it at the end of November.

Anyways, I got this yesterday and its arrived insanely quick. It was quite a heavy package and when i opened it i was literally gobsmacked at how much she sent, i can not thank her enough!

Along with a letter and postcard i got:

Mechanical Pencil & Canimals (Refills)
The pencil has a really cute bow design on it :) i actually thought the refills where sweets, until i opened it and i realised they were refills - good job because i don't think eating those would have been pleasant, do you?

Tuesdays With Morrie By Mitch Albom
She told me this was one of her favourite books that she had recently read. I've been reading a lot lately (hence the many book reviews) so I'm looking forward to reading this! There was also a bookmark inside the book which i thought was really sweet.

A5 Sketchbook
I've been meaning to get a sketchbook, because i was to start scrapbook and journalling so this was sent at the perfect time. Its really nice quality too.

She also sent me an insane amount of Sweets or 'Candy' - so much for healthy eating ey?!...

Swissmiss Hot Cocoa Mix in French
I love the packaging that this comes in it so cute, and I'm super excited to try this - it sounds heavenly.

Starburst Jellybeans
I don't know if we have these here in the UK i know I've never tried them so I'm looking forward too, these are mainly like the 'red' flavours too which are my favourite :D

Starburst Fruit Chews in Original
I really like Starburst so i know these will go down a treat - these also have a cherry flavour, which i don't think we have?

Lip Pops Lollipop in Blue Raspberry
This is funny, its almost like a dummy but the outside is a pair of lips. So I'm probably going to look a bit stupid when i have this but i can't wait to try it as the flavour sounds really good.

Jolly Ranchers Hard Candy
Jolly Ranchers are something we don't have here in the UK so I'm looking forward to trying these.

Holiday Twist Tic Tacs
I know we have Tic Tacs but i don't know if we had these particular ones, either way Ive not tried them so I'm intrigued as to what the 'Holiday Twist' is.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares Peppermint Bark & Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares Peppermint Bark with Dark Chocolate
These to me sounds like they're going to be like After Eights, I'm not the biggest fan of Dark Chocolate but i will definitely try these and see how it differs with Peppermint.

I don't know what these are officially called, this was all that was on the wrapper. These are like giant soft mints and they're tasty.

& that's everything that she sent me - she's really spoiled me in this package and I'm really looking forward to trying all the candy and using all the things she sent.
Thank you Ale!

Do you have a pen pal?

16. Where I Blog!

I saw this tag floating around ages ago and i knew it was something i'd love to do but i didnt have a set up worth showing. Since moving house back in September, i got a new desk so i could do my uni work and its also where the majority of my blogging takes place. This desk doubles up as my work desk/make-up desk, now its no fancy vanity table it's literally just a simple wooden office type desk. Id love a proper vanity table but for now i use this to do my uni work and it serves its purpose well. The desk is from Argos and retails for £49.99 - i actually got mine for £20 from a thrift store.

I like sitting at my desk and doing work blogging, im surrounded by photos of my friends and happy times, all my notebooks and schedules for my blog are near me and i don't know, it just makes me feel important sitting at my desk, i say sitting but having a chair with wheels on a wooden floor usually leaves me rolling all over the place - but you know what i mean!

So yeah, that's where i blog. I also do some of my blogging downstairs in the living room but i thought this would be more interesting to show than just an armchair.

Where do you blog?
Also, are you enjoying the 365 challenge and are you liking the posts im doing for it?  I appreciate all feedback!

15. Review | Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Kajal Kohl in Nude

Today has mostly been spent doing dissertation, i say doing but Ive in fact spent more time on twitter, browsing blogs and playing game on facebook, naughty i know but I'm finding it hard to concentrate. So whilst I'm till procrastinating i thought id get today's post up :)

I bought the Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Kajal Kohl in Nude back in November/December, I'd been on the hunt for a good cheap nude eyeliner to help widen my eyes more and since buying it, this eyeliner has become a staple item in my make-up routine and collection.

Rimmel have really upped their game with these eyeliners - their old eyeliners were decent but the formulation of these are fantastic. They are soft and creamy,  have really good pigmentation and they glide on effortlessly - so there is no tugging at the eyes or skin. The only negative i have is that I wouldn't say this eyeliner is long lasting; i find it wears off me after a couple of hours, i don't know if this is the same for everyone or if all the eyeliners are like that but i really like this product so that doesn't put me off too much.

This retails for £3.99 and is available at Boots & Superdrug, I'm really impressed with this product and i would recommend it to anyone who is searching for a cheap nude eyeliner. It really brightens up the eyes and gives the illusion that I'm much more wide awake than i usually am.

Whats your favourite nude eyeliner?

14. Book Review | Looking For Alaska

When i first asked for this book (it was another one of the books that my friend got me for Christmas) i didn't quite know what it was about. Id seen it constantly being mentioned and quotes constantly appearing from it over tumblr and it really intrigued me. So i literally started to read this without having much knowledge as to what it was about.

"Miles "Pudge" Halter's whole existence has been one big nonevent, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave the "Great Perhaps" (François Rabelais, poet) even more. Then he heads off to the sometimes crazy, possibly unstable, and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed-up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young, who is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart."

At first, i did find it difficult to get into it - mostly due to my lack of knowledge about it, i just didn't quite know where it was heading. However, i persisted and once the story got going it got more and more interesting. I read this in two days (half each night) and i thoroughly enjoyed reading it, it was such an easy and enjoyable book to read. Ive never read anything by John Green before but i really like how he writes and i definitely want to check out some of his others.

Rating: 4/5

Have you read Looking For Alaska?
