Whilst i had a week off work me and two friends decided to go on a little road trip to the Lakes for the day. I haven't been to the Lakes in years - possibly not since i was in Primary School so i was so excited to go. I'm not a massive country girl, i couldn't live their full time but its definitely somewhere i love to go just to get away and to soak in the views.

I don't think the weather could have been any better; it was the perfect crisp Autumn day. The first stop once we arrived there was to find a cute little cafe where we could get something to eat and a lovely warm drink and we definitely did that - we went to Wild & Co which was really lovely. It had such a lovely cosy atmosphere and the staff was so friendly too and the food was delicious. I had an English tea and a Cumberland Sausage and Onion sandwich which was massive and a struggle to finish but it was really tasty and it was the perfect way to start the day.

The main place we wanted to visit whilst there was The World of Beatrice Potter which was a bit of a walk from where we had parked up but we decided to take a bit of a detour to where we was directed so that we could go past Lake Windermere. We had to take a little footpath through a forest(?) which was really lovely and scenic.

Once we reached Lake Windermere it was nice to have a little sit down and enjoy the view, and take a few selfies - of course. I could have sat here for hours but a swarm of seagulls were getting a bit irate so we ventured onto The World of Beatrice Potter.

I'm a big fan of Beatrice Potter; I've loved her stories for as long as i can remember. I came here many years before when i was Primary School but it was so long ago that it was nice to go back as an adult when i could appreciate it more. Seeing the likes of Peter Rabbits Garden, all the different animals and my personal favourite Mrs Tiggy-Winkle. I did take more photos than these but i didn't want this post to be extremely heavy. We also paid a little visit to the gift shop were we each got photo key rings and i also picked up a lovely bookmark (of Mrs Tiggy-winkle) and a lovely handbag sized diary ready for 2015.

As if the day wasn't lovely enough and filled with some incredible scenery we ended the day with a stop at Costa in the services and sat outside to this. It was insanely beautiful and somewhere i could have quite easily stayed for many more hours. It was so calming and peaceful and being their with two of my favourite people just made it even better. It's not often we do days like this but it was lovely and i really enjoyed myself. So much so that we're hoping to plan a little getaway after Christmas and rent a cottage for a few days.

Have you been to the Lakes?
