Along with the release of their new Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara*, Max Factor also released a range of cream eyeshadows - if you've followed my blog for a while you'll know that i enjoy using cream eyeshadow, in particular the Maybelline Colour Tattoos; cream eyeshadows are the perfect products to get a really easy eye look, that looks like you've actually put in a lot of effort, they're easy to blend and long lasting what more could you want.

So i was very excited to be able to try out Max Factor's offering and i was sent one of the Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadows in Onyx* - unfortunately, myself and black eyeshadows whether it be powder or cream don't quite work well together. I don't know what it is but whenever i try it just never ends well, even when i do it very lightly i always end up like a goth gone wrong with panda eyes. So due to that i won't get a great deal of use out of this.

I did test it out anyways so that i could still give on honest review on the product itself, regardless of the shade. The product itself is quite lovely - it's a very creamy product and it has almost a mousse-like texture because it's quite soft (if that makes any sense?) It has a much more of a sheer application than most other creamy eyeshadows that I've tried but it blends out really easily and i can imagine that it's easy to build up the colour.

As the name suggests these are quite shimmery so if shimmer isn't quite your thing i don't think these would be right for you but i could imagine these would be great options for nights out, parties or special occasions because the shimmer would give you that added glitz to your look. They're also long lasting - i don't know if they last for the full 12 hours that it claims to but for the few hours i did wear this it did remain in tact.

I can't really comment on the over all look of them because as i mentioned earlier black just isn't a colour i work well with so i didn't like how it look on myself, but I'd love try to Copper and Bronze shades that are available. I think I'll use Onyx like a gel eyeliner just because id hate for it to be wasted. They do retail for £7.99 (Available Here) which is a little more on the pricey side in comparison to others but they are lovely products and i would happily pay that much for them.

Have you tried the Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadows?

  4. I think cream black eyeshadows are too heavy. I always end up looking like a panda! Lovely colour though.

    1. I just can't cope with black eyeshadows in general, even powder ones leave me looking like a panda.
