Life Lately #5 | Redesigns, Memory Jars and What i Acheived in 2014

 photo DSCF2462_zps59c3664e.jpg

This post is going to be a bit of a mish mash, as i want to mention and include a few things; it could get a little lengthy so you might want to go and make yourself a brew! Trust me, I'm currently armed with a good ole' cup of tea and a box of Milk Tray - my absolute favourite chocolates to receive at Christmas!

If you read my last post, you'll know that i decided to go on a little hiatus til the New Year - it's barely been a week and i just couldn't keep away any longer. Within a day of saying i was taking a few days to myself to refresh i was already itching to get back to it but i can honestly say those few days i took were just what i needed. You may have also noticed that I've given my blog layout a bit of a refresh - i liked my last layout a lot but i just felt like it needed updating a bit. I bought this layout from Sweet Electric - it's super affordable and she has a selection of other layouts too - this isn't massively different to my last one and there are still a few more things i want to do but I'm happy with it - what do you think?

There is something about New Year that makes me feel quite anxious and nervous; i don't know if it's just because its another reminder of what I've not achieved or whether the excitement of a whole New Year and a new chance to turn over a new leaf. To be honest, it still strikes me as bizarre that this is the last day of 2014 - i don't quite understand where this year as gone.

2014 was a massive year in terms of change for me - although, there was no massive events or achievements for me, i changed a lot as a person. I've been reading over the memories I've placed into my memory jar over the year and it's such a difference from the year before, both me and my life have changed a lot; my entire friendship group changed and whilst i still care for my old friends, i definitely feel like I've changed for the better (at least i hope its for the better). Not only have i met some amazing and wonderful people but I'm starting to feel a lot better about being comfortable just being me, in my own skin.

If you told me at the start of the year that I'd be going on nights out once/twice a week and that sometimes I'd be going them on my own with a group of lads, I'd have laughed in your face. I've always been a bit of a hermit and nights out were far and few in between, I only ever went on those few nights out depending on if a certain friend was out - i dictated what i was doing around what she was doing. Now that is no criticism to her at all, that is all on me because in a way i guess i was too dependant on her and therefore wouldn't go on nights out or even other places if she wasn't - which is actually really sad. I don't want this to come across as me insulting the previous group because its definitely not that at all, they're lovely people but i guess i just didn't fit with them in the same way. Where now, things are so different - i don't feel the need to have that certain person out to go out and why that may not seem like a big thing to some people to me that is massive.

 photo photo_zps10a49720.jpg

This year also brought me two really amazing friends who i honestly couldn't imagine not being in my life; Gemma & Estelle. I've mentioned them a few times in various posts but they are truly two of the best friends a girl could ask for... anyone who knows me well, knows i struggle with trust a lot and that makes it difficult for me to be really comfortable with people and to really let my guard down but with these two that's not an issue and i honestly don't know what i did without them before. I've also met so many other really wonderful people that i couldn't imagine not knowing and they probably don't even realise it but my life has changed so much thanks to these people and I'm so grateful for that.

This year also saw me: reach 800 followers on Blog Lovin'; pay off my over-draft, get contact lenses; be in a karaoke contest, have Lord Alan Sugar tweet about my blog, attend some amazing blog events, buy my first Nars product, buy my blog domain, learn that drunken me talks far to much and falls over a lot, get addicted to Snapchat, drink far too many caramel macchiatos, go to a Marvel Vs DC Halloween party, fall in love with the Lake District (again), partying til the early hours of the morning on Christmas Eve and tonight, i will be bringing in the New Year with an incredible bunch of people!

2014 you've been good, but let's make 2015 even better!
Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas (P.S I'm taking a break)

Before i say anything, i just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you all had a really lovely day yesterday and got everything that you wanted and more - i know I've had a lovely few days and I'm extremely grateful for the gifts I've received.

I actually had tonnes of post planned for this week and also the few days I've missed in between posting but the struggle to sometimes get the photos i want, sometimes takes away my motivation and i want to grow my blog and improve it as much as possible and posting mediocre photos that I'm not happy with for the sake of a post isn't a step in the right direction.

I was going to do posts like a Christmas Day Haul, a Christmas Day FOTD and also a Boxing Day Haul; all of which I'm no longer going to bother doing - for one, i completely forgot to take a photo of my make up yesterday and every time i photograph hauls it never turns out right so i decided not to bother - don't worry though, you'll see various items popping up in future posts.

Speaking of Boxing Day Sales; i discovered today that i actually despise sale shopping. Instead of going into my local town me and my sister decided to give Liverpool a try as there is tonnes more shops there and they're bigger than ours too - NEVER AGAIN. Whilst i love spending money and finding a bargain, the actually process of physically shopping was draining - watching people fighting with others over something they probably don't even need but rather like the price tag is just ridiculous. You could tell a lot of people where also stocking up on Christmas present for next year and whilst it might save money i just think it's rather impersonal, buying presents with no-one in mind, just for the sake of it. Next year, my boxing day sales shopping will be done online from the comfort of my own bed.

Anyways, onto the 'taking a break' part - I've decided that I'm going to take a little bit of time off from blogging. I'll be back to posting in the New Year but right now i need to take a step back. I work so hard on some of my posts (i know everyone else does to) but when their is very little reaction, it's quite disheartening and very often leaves me feeling quite deflated. There has been occasions when I've done a post and got little response and then other some bloggers post a similar thing and they get a tonne of views and comments - i know this isn't what blogging is about but it's frustrating sometimes and I'm not trying to insult other bloggers because they are obviously doing something right and its working really well for them but right now, i think i need a break and to step back for a few days - by that i mean; no planning, no photos, no posting - nothing. It's going to be difficult but i think this is just what i need.

Don't worry though, I'll be back in 2015!
Have a good New Year & Stay Safe!

Review | Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Lips

I didn't even realise Barry M had released a line of lip crayons until i saw the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Lips in my beauty swap from Beauty Queen UK, I'm quite fond of lip crayons so i was very intrigued to see how Barry M's offering compares to others.

I tried this on instantly and at first was a little worried by the sticky texture but within a matter of minutes i fell in love. With the name 'Gelly Hi Shine' I'm assuming they are aiming for the finish to emulate the shine that you get from their nail lacquers and it definitely does that - it's quite a glossy lip product and it looks lovely, it finishes off a make up look really nicely. As i mentioned it does have a slight sticky feel and texture to it once you first apply it but that doesn't last.

The shade i have is a dark wine red type shade which i believe is called Vega - the pencil itself doesn't have the shade name written on it but i checked the website and i think that's the right one. It's such beautiful shade - it actually reminds me a little bit of the infamous Rimmel '107' Lipstick but a glossy version. Rachel definitely choose well with this shade because it's seriously beautiful and I've honestly been wearing it non stop both for nights out and during the day - which trust me i tend to save red lips for night outs only. It's also a perfect colour for Autumn/Winter time.

It lasts really well on the lips before you need to top it up - it does lose the shine after a couple of hours but the colour stays in place. I love it because it's still like wearing a bold lip but it has quite a sheer application so it's a little less bold than a lipstick would be - if that makes sense. If you'd like to see how it looks on the check out my face of the day post here.

Up until reading a comment i forgot to mention the only negative this product has and that is that you have to sharpen it rather than it being a twist up. I hate sharpening things as it is but this lets the product down because you end up wasting quite a bit til its sharp again but that is the only thing that i dislike about these lip crayons.

I really like this lip product and i definitely want to try some of the other shades out - i quite like the look of Sirius! They're long lasting, have good colour pay off and i like the finish of them. They are really affordable retailing for £4.99 and are available to buy from here.

Have you tried the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Lips?

Recently Read #3

 photo DSCF2239_zpsfc9ad8e2.jpg

I've not actually read half as much as I'd have liked too but I've somehow managed to get through five books so I've not done too bad considering i usually have no time but i have made a conscious effort to read more even if it is just squeezing the odd chapter in here and there.

I am going to do a post in the next week or so with my Top 7 books that I've read throughout 2014 so keep an eye out for that if you're interested but for now i thought I'd let you know what i thought of the 5 books that I've recently read.

Evermore by Alyson Noel
Sixteen-year-old Ever Bloom is the sole survivor of a car accident that killed her family. Exiled to sunny California. Ever is haunted by her little sister and by the ability to see people's auras, hear their thoughts and know their entire life story by touching them. She wants to hide from the world, but when a stunningly handsome guy arrives at school, she can't seem to keep away. Falling in love with Damen is dangerous - he's not what he seems. But if Damen is her destiny, how can Ever walk away?

I still can't quite decide what i think of this book - my mum actually read it and loved it so i figured I'd try it and it wasn't bad but it just left me kind of unsatisfied. I think the premise to it sounds like it's going to be quite interesting but the story itself just wasn't. It was quite quick and easy to read so if you want something quick and you like 'fantasy' type books then this might be worth looking into but otherwise i probably wouldn't bother. I believe this is part of a series but i don't think I'll be bothering with the rest of them.

About a Girl by Lindsey Kelk
I’d lost my job. I’d lost the love of my life. My mum wasn’t talking to me. My best friend was epically pissed off. And my flatmate probably had a hit out on me by now...Tess Brookes has always been a Girl with a Plan. But when her carefully constructed Plan goes belly up, she’s forced to reconsider. After accidently answering her flatmate Vanessa’s phone, she decides that since being Tess isn’t going so well, why shouldn’t she try out being Vanessa? With nothing left to lose, she accepts Vanessa’s photography assignment to Hawaii – she used to be an amateur snapper, how hard can it be? Right? Far from home and in someone else’s shoes, Tess must decide whether to fight on through, or ‘fess up and run…

I absolutely love Lindsey Kelk book's and this was no exception. If you love girly, romance type books then you will absolutely love her. I really enjoyed this book - it's such an easy read and i love how relatable the characters are in the book.

What a Girl Wants by Lindsey Kelk
Tess Brookes was the girl with a plan. Now she's the girl with a choice. Should she stay in London and start her own advertising agency with her best friend and potential boyfriend Charlie? Or should she head to exciting Milan to pursue both a new career as a photographer and a new man, the enigmatic and elusive (and highly irritating) Nick? For the first time, Tess has to choose between the life she always dreamed of and a future she never imagined possible. With her heart and her head pulling her in different directions, Tess has to make a life-changing decision about What a Girl Wants.

This is a sequel to 'About a Girl' and like that book, it is equally enjoyable. It's such an easy and enjoyable read and i love these books because they are type of books you can really just lose yourself in someone else's life. I really hope that she's planning to release another book after this one because Tess made the right choice in the end but i was a little unsatisfied with the ending panned out.

The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen
Luke is the perfect boyfriend: handsome, kind, fun. He and Emaline have been together all through high school in Colby, the beach town where they both grew up. But now, in the summer before college, Emaline wonders if perfect is good enough. Enter Theo, a super-ambitious outsider, a New Yorker assisting on a documentary film about a reclusive local artist. Theo's sophisticated, exciting, and, best of all, he thinks Emaline is much too smart for Colby.

Emaline's mostly-absentee father, too, thinks Emaline should have a bigger life, and he's convinced that an Ivy League education is the only route to realizing her potential. Emaline is attracted to the bright future that Theo and her father promise. But she also clings to the deep roots of her loving mother, stepfather, and sisters. Can she ignore the pull of the happily familiar world of Colby? Emaline wants the moon and more, but how can she balance where she comes from with where she's going?

Despite it Sarah Dessen's books being aimed a people a little younger than me i actually rather enjoy reading them. This one however, is definitely my least favourite out of all the ones that I've read. It's still a good book and a decent read but i just felt it really lacked something and i found the character 'Theo' rather irritating. One thing i do really enjoy about Sarah Dessen's books is that all the characters and places from each book tend to feature in each one.

Let is Snow by Maureen Johnson, John Green and Lauren Myracle
An ill-timed storm on Christmas Eve buries the residents of Gracetown under multiple feet of snow and causes quite a bit of chaos. One brave soul ventures out into the storm from her stranded train and sets off a chain of events that will change quite a few lives. Over the next three days one girl takes a risky shortcut with an adorable stranger, three friends set out to win a race to the Waffle House (and the hash brown spoils), and the fate of a teacup pig falls into the hands of a lovesick barista.

I'll be honest and say this was nothing like i was expecting it to be.. i don't really know what it was that i was expecting though. The stories were quite random and one of them in particular i didn't think was that great but regardless it's a really easy read and it's a nice book to read at christmas especially because all the books are set during Christmas eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

So that is the books i have recently read. If you have read any I'd love to know your thoughts on them? Also, if you have any book recommendations please let me know!

Easy Go To Eye Look

 photo DSCF2208_zpsdc523738.jpg

 photo DSCF2218_zpsbb4fe45e.jpg

 photo DSCF2224_zpsd03fac10.jpg

I absolutely love applying my make up and if i have the time i love spending ages applying it, especially my eye make up. However, there are many days though when i just want to click my fingers and have achieved a eye look that looks like it's taken a lot of time and effort - this is where my 'easy go to eye look' steps in.

Regardless of what i intend to do with my eye make up i always use Mac's Paint Pot in Painterly - it's a nude cream base that evens out the skintone and creates the perfect base for the eye make up. For the eyeshadow i switch between two products depending on what mood I'm in or how intense i want it to look. If i want a more basic natural looking eye then i go for Max-Factor Excess Shimmer in Copper* or if if i feel like a eye look that's a bit more intense and edgy looking i go for Max-Factor Excess Shimmer in Bronze* - these are cream eyeshadows but they have more of a mousse like texture/formula but they are really creamy and easy to blend out. I like blending these out using a big fluffy brush as it gives a subtle wash of colour to the lid and then i can keep adding more and blending it out until i have the look i want.

Eyeliner is my next step and this also varies alot depending on what look I'm going for. If i want a really clean look i like to apply my Maybelline Mastergraphic liner and i love to wing out my liner too - it's so easy to use. If i want something that's a bit more intense and edgy looking then i reach for my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero and ill use that along my tightline and that gives it a nice smudgy kind of look.

Mascara differs depending on which i feel like using; at the moment I've rediscovered my love for Benefit They're Real Mascara - i forgot just how much i love this mascara, it makes my lashes so lovely and long. To finish it off i bright up under the eyes with my YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch and i also highlight along the browbone and the inner corner of my eye with the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter.

It may seem like a lot to do but it's not, its so quick and easy to do and it looks like you've spent alot more time on it than you actually have.

Whats your go to eye look?

The Nude Lip

 photo DSCF2187_zps6e7abac8.jpg

 photo DSCF2195_zps228dfa71.jpg

 photo DSCF2201_zps8feefea4.jpg

Today marks my blog's third birthday - can you believe that? Because i can't, it's just flown by and i honestly couldn't imagine what i did beforehand without blogging, it's such a massive part of my life. I just wanna say a big thank you to those who follow my blog - it means a lot.

Ideally, this post should have photos of me wearing the lip products but my morning did not go to plan. I was only supposed to be in at 1pm so i got up early with the intention of spending the morning taking photos but instead i was greeted with a text message from work asking if i could go in early as someone had phoned in sick so my plan was thwarted - i did manage to get these few photos done though. Onto the post...When I'm not wearing my bold lip (here) I've been going for a nude lip and I've really gotten into using lip liner at the moment - it's usually only something i would do with a bold lip colours but lately it's been something I've been enjoying doing with a nude lip too.

The lip liner i reach for the most when i do a nude lip is the Studio 10 Age Reverse Perfecting Lip Liner* in the shade Universal - it's dual ended; one side is a skin tone shade and the other is a light pink shade which is the side i use most. I don't use it to fill in my lips with the colour only to line and define the shape of my lips.

The actual lip colour i use varies depending on what mood I'm in but i usually switch between two products. Mac Lipstick in Cremecup it's such a beautiful pink toned nude and I'm sure you all know it's a firm favourite of mine. It's a cremesheen formula which i really like but it's not overly glossy but it still had a nice shine to it.

The second lip colour i also reach for alot is there L'Oreal Extraordinaire Colour Riche Liquid Lipstick in Rose Melody - it's a gorgeous light pink which actually feels more like a lipgloss than a lipstick but it's really lovely and it has a slight shimmer to it as well.

I absolutely love wearing a nude lip because it's such an easy option and it goes with everything - my nude lip changes up a lot but these are the products I've been reaching for the most.

What's your favourite nude lip?

Beauty Swap #2

The second beauty swap that i took part in was run by Lucie from FatBeautyx. She did a brilliant job organising the swap so i want to say a massive thank you to her. I was paired with the lovely Mariette - she isn't a blogger but i will link her twitter if you'd like to check her out as she is a fellow make up obsessive. She put together such a lovely package and i can not wait to try everything out! I also really love that she included a little letter giving me pros and cons of each product which i thought was a really nice touch.

Mariette choose the perfect selection of products for me; she got me the Maybelline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner which is meant to be a dupe for the Benefit Gel Liner so I'm curious to see what it's like, she also got me Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara which is another mascara I've wanted to try for a while.

The Seventeen Cheek Stamp in Bashful is another item that I'm really curious about to try out - Mariette also told me it was a in between blush/bronzer shade so I'm looking forward to trying it out. The ELF Mineral Eyeshadow in Elegant is a lovely neutral shade which i think will make a lovely base colour - normally, mineral eyeshadows aren't something I'd go for because I'm clumsy and I'll probably end up with it everywhere but it looks really nice and I'm definitely going to try it out.

There also a I Heart Make Up Wow Gloss in the shade No Need to Panic which is a lovely pink shade and she also included lots of samples too which i thought was a lovely addition - these included Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Benefit Coralista Lipgloss and also samples from Bioderma, Phyto and some others.

I love the package she put together and I'm looking forward to trying everything out and 'm sure you'll see them all featured on my blog at some point. A massive thank you to Mariette for such a lovely package, I'm really excited to try everything out.

Have you tried any of these products?

FOTD | Am i the only, the only believer?

 photo DSCF2094_zps3f28eaac.jpg

 photo DSCF2151_zps076ec6a1.jpg

On Wednesday me and my bestie Gem took a little trip to the Trafford centre to have some tea and to do a little Christmas shopping. I was rather happy with my make up so i thought I'd share it with you.

I kept it all quite simple and it barely took me any time to do - my base consisted of Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation set in place with Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder of course. I covered my under eyes and all the pesky blemishes that have appeared on my chin with my current favourite Studio 10 Age Defy Skin Perfector* and popped a bit of colour into the cheeks with Benefit Coralista Blush from the Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box of Blush.

My brows i quickly filled in with a new addition I'm currently testing the Studio 10 Brow Lift Perfecting Liner* and set those with the usual Maybelline Brow Drama.

I knew i wanted to wear a bit of a bold lip so the eye make up consisted of Nyx Single Eyeshadow in Sahara all over the lid, winged out eyeliner using Maybelline Mastergraphic Liner - genuinely one of the best liners I've tried recently and Benefit They're Real Mascara which i am absolutely loving using again, i always forget just how good it is when i don't use it for a while.

Last of all, the lips which i pretty much worked the entire make up look around because i really wanted to wear it. Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Lips in Vega, it's such a gorgeous colour and perfect for this season.

What products have you been wearing lately?

This Christmas i took part in two beauty swaps; i did a Christmas swap a year or so ago and it was a lot of fun so when i saw a few bloggers hosting swaps this year i signed up to a couple. I will be doing another post on the other swap i took part in.

The first swap i signed up to was hosted by Clare from The Love of All Things Beauty - firstly, i just wanna say she did a great job and I'm really glad i took part. I was paired with Rachel from Beauty Queen UK; we set a budget of £20 and gave each other a list of likes and dislikes and i have to say Rachel put together one heck of a package, i was smiling from ear to ear opening everything.

She really hit the nail on the head with the products she choose; one of the only things i mentioned I'd like to try was some brow products so Rachel got me the W7 Brow Bar - which I'm looking forward to trying out, she also got me the W7 In the Buff Lightly Toasted Eyeshadow palette filled with a gorgeous range of neutral eyeshadows which you all know i just can't get enough of, the Maybelline Mastergraphic Eyeliner which i do actually own already but its a firm favourite that i use pretty much everyday so i was actually really happy to have a back up and the Rimmel Wonder'Full Mascara is a product that I've been curious to try for a while as the formula has argan oil in it.

A product that is quickly becoming one of my favourites is the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Lip Crayon in Vega - it's a really beautiful deep red colour but its so easy to wear and its just perfect for this autumn/winter season. She also included two Yankee Candle Samplers in Frosted Snow that smell incredible, a lovely little Reindeer Hand Warmer that is going to come in handy considering how cold it has gone lately, an Argan Oil Deep Moisturising Foot Pack and two Merryteaser Malteasers which i can assure you didn't last long.

I just want to say a massive thank you to Rachel, I absolutely love everything that she got me and I'm very excited to try everything out and of course i will be reviewing and featuring them on my blog at some point. I loved taking part in this swap; it was a lot of fun shopping and putting it together.

If you want to know what i got in the second beauty swap i took part in, stay tuned as i will be posting it on my blog in a couple of days!

Have you taken part in any beauty swaps?

Most Worn Red Lip Products

 photo DSCF1502_zps56903e2e.jpg

 photo DSCF2062_zpse470b49e.jpg

 photo DSCF2076_zps0adf179f.jpg

I love a good red lip and whilst it may not be my everyday shade, it's definitely a colour i love to wear. I recently posted about my most worn pink lip products (post here) and i really enjoyed it so i thought it'd be interesting to share with you my most worn red lip products.

Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Candy Apple
I blame this purchase entirely on Essiebutton; she featured it in one of her videos ages ago and i loved it so much i pretty much ran out and bought it. This is probably my most worn red lip product and i bloody love it. It has a sheer application which makes it a lot more wearable because it's not as intense or as bold as a lipstick. It's a really gorgeous red shade and because it's a lip butter, it's so easy to wear and is really moisturising on the lips.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Frambourjoise
This is such a nice lip product; the shade 'Frambourjoise' is a red shade with a slight pink undertone. It has really good colour pay off, applies opaque in one sweep and it lasts for a really long time on the lips. They have a matte finish but despite that they actually feel really moisturising on the lips and the finish is really nice - it feels like it has more of a satin sheen to it than a matte finish but i really like it. These are such great lip products; with a nice finish and amazing formula.

Mac Lipstick in Ruby Woo
This used to be my go to red lip products for a nights out, it's a really lovely true red shade. I don't really wear this as often anymore - I'm not so sure why. It has a matte finish and because of that it's very long lasting but it also means it can be a little drying so it definitely requires some lip preparation beforehand and a good lip liner to define the lip and prevent it from bleeding.

Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick in 107
I'm pretty sure this lipstick is in every blogger's make up collection thanks to Zoella. This is one of the darkest reds in my collection; I'd describe the shade as a burgundy/wine red - it's so pretty and it's the most perfect autumnal shade! The Rimmel Lipsticks have really nice formulas; they're very creamy and this particular one has a semi-matte finish,

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Red Sunrise
These lip crayons are really lovely; they are glossy and creamy and have really great colour pay off - they're quite similar to lip butters in that they're very moisturising on the lips and have a slight more sheer application. Red Sunrise is a really lovely bold pink-red shade, id say this colour is a good shade for the summer time as it's quite a bright shade.

Sonia Kashuk Tinted Lip Balm in Hint of Red
This is actually a tinted lip balm so it's not as pigmented but it's a great everyday shade if you want a red lip without wearing a bold lip because it is literally a hint of red. As this is a lip balm; it's very moisturising on the lips, i really like wearing this on days i just want add a hint of colour into my make up look without wearing a bold red lip.

So those are my most worn red lip products - I'm always drawn to red lip products and i have gathered quite a collection but this are the ones that i tend to reach for the most.

What's your favourite red lip products?

Brand Focus | Bourjois

 photo DSCF2025_zpse7f47b0f.jpg

 photo DSCF2027_zpsd494127a.jpg

I've decided to introduce a new series onto my blog today; I've tried a lot of brands so i thought it might be interesting to share with you some of my favourite products I've tried from each brand. The first brand that I'm going to be focusing on is Bourjois. I've only really gotten into Bourjois in the last two years but it has definitely impressed me and some of my favourites from the brand are:

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Frambourjoise
These are really nice lip products especially if you love a bold lip. Frambourjoise has a slight pink undertone to it, it's a really pretty colour and i love wearing it. These have a really nice formula, are easy to apply and even though they have a matte finish they are really moisturising to wear on the lips.

Bourjois Delice De Poudre AKA The Chocolate Bronzer
If i was to recommend just one product from Bourjois it would be this one - their infamous Chocolate bronzer. It's a really lovely bronzer to use - it's matte so it's ideal to use as a contour and also because it's brown-toned it's not muddy looking and actually looks quite natural on. The scent of this is incredible; i wouldn't say it smells like chocolate though, the scent reminds me of being on holiday - it has a really summery type scent.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in Vanilla
This is the older version of the foundation so i don't know how it differs from the newer ones but it is a much loved product in the blogger world. I'd say this has a medium coverage and it covers blemishes and imperfections really well. The consistency of it is quite thin but you can easily build it up if you feel you need more coverage. It blends out easily and sinks into the skin to give a lovely healthy and natural glow.

Bourjois Cream Blush in Nude Velvet
This is the perfect everyday blush; the colour is a light peachy tone, it's really subtle and natural and it compliments all skin tones and goes well with all make up looks. It's a cream blush which normally i don't like so much because i find they can sometimes be quite difficult to blend out but these have a cream to powder formula and it blends out so easy and effortlessly and it's really long lasting too.

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon in Orange Punch
These are some of my favourite lip crayons I've ever tried; they are really glossy and moisturising on the lips. Orange is a colour i usually steer away from but this applies quite sheer so i find it's really wearable and i just love it, especially in the spring/summer. I also have the shade 'Red Sunrise' in the lip crayon and it's also really nice.

Bourjois Smokey Stories Eyeshadow Quad in Good Nude
I actually own all 8 of these quads and they are all great products but the 'Good Nude' is the one that I've been reaching for the most. They are really good quality with good pigmentation and they blend together really nicely. The fours shades in the quad are the perfect components in creating a smokey eye. I don't rate the glitter shade in the middle or the 'light touch' as Bourjois call it as it doesn't apply very well. The other three shades however compliment each other really nicely and its so easy to create a smokey eye with.

Those are some of my favourite items I've tried from Bourjois and the ones I'd recommend checking out. What are some of your favourite products from Bourjois?

I love this perfume a lot. It one of those perfumes that i always go back and repurchase it, I'm pretty certain this is my third bottle. I haven't had it in ages though but when i saw it was on offer for £7.99 (It may have been £6.99, i can't remember the exact price) in B&m and for that price i just couldn't say no.

I think the bottle of this is just beautiful; i love the lace detailing, I don't know if its just me and it probably sounds strange but the lace detail gives it a real womanly feel to it (just me?) - either way, its so simple and so pretty. It's one of those bottles that would look really nice displayed on your dressing table - not that i actually have a nice dressing table but if i did, i would. I particularly love that this is so unlike all the typical celebrity scents you get - don't get me wrong, i do actually like a lot of the celeb fragrances but its nice to have something different.

It's a fruity scent with notes of tangerine and blackcurrant mixed with a few floral notes and it also has a hint of musk and vanilla which is what i think gives it that 'mature' element to the scent. That description is rather awful - I'd recommend going and smelling it yourself because it is really nice and it's such an affordable perfume too.

I'm so glad i picked it up - it's definitely one of my favourite perfumes!
What perfume have you been loving lately?

Lifestyle | 101 Things in 1,001 Days: Update #8 and the Ones I Didn't Complete!

 photo DSCF2032_zpsfbc584cb.jpg

First things first, Id recommend getting a drink before you sit down for this one as it's gonna be a looooong post and before i even jump into the main post i wanted to say that i did actually plan on blogging everyday this month. I wasn't necessarily doing Blogmas i just wanted to do lots of posts but due to a busy schedule and not being able to get photos in time meant I've missed the last three days which I'm really disappointed at but i didn't want to sacrifice the quality of the post by including terrible photos for the sake of it.

Onto today's post - on the 11th March 2012 i decided to set myself the challenge of completing a 101 things in 1,001 days and I'm quite proud to say i have completed 79 out of 101, which i think is rather impressive! Since my last 101 things update i have completed a further 9 which are:

71. Read 60 books 60/60
I actually lowered this to 60 from 100 because I've really slacked on my reading the past few years so i lowered it to make it a bit more realistic - although, i don't quite know how i managed to read 60 books either at the pace I've been reading.

72. Introduce Lifestyle Posts into my Blog
I've made a big effort with this lately - i hope you've noticed and are enjoying them. I love beauty and it will always be the primary topic for this blog but i think it's nice to throw in some more personal post where you get to know me a little better or see what I'm up to.

73. Drink More Green Tea
Technically, it was Salted Caramel Green Tea but i still think it counts..I really enjoyed them and because of that i found myself drinking it a lot more regularly.

74. Start a saving account
I really slacked with this one but since i am going on holiday next year and i need to pay for it - I'm using my savings account to save up for the holiday so technically its a bit of a cheat but it still counts okay!

75. Try Cooking more Healthy Meals
I challenged myself to cook 3 different ones in total and i did. I'm still working on my diet and improving it but this was a start at least.

76. Buy a Full Size Yankee Candle
This is a total cheat because i didn't actually buy a full size Yankee Candle but i was given one (not a blog gift, it was from a friend) and it seemed silly for me to go out and buy another one when i had one already so I've crossed it off because i do have a full size yankee candle.

77. Go a proper Halloween Party
Ive always wanted to go to a proper halloween party and this halloween i did and it was brilliant. The party was Marvel Vs DC theme and i had a lot of fun.

78. Go to the Lake District
I hadn't been in ages and i really wanted to go again and at the beginning of November i got to - it was a such a lovely day and i really wanna go back and spend a couple of days there hopefully in a little cottage or something.

79. Get a Curly Blow
I've always been curious by curly blows but never ever plucked up the courage to get one until the Halloween party - i decided to go and get one done to save me doing my hair as i was in work all that day too. I loved the results and I'll definitely get it done again in the future.

i don't think 79 out of 101 is too bad, as i genuinely didn't think I'd get anywhere near that. So the 22 things that i didn't complete are:

1. Get Business cards printed for my blog.
I really wanted to get these so that i could take them to any events or blogger meet ups i attend but i haven't gotten round to getting them yet because I've decided i want to change up my blog layout so i waiting until I've done that til i design and order any.

2. Get Another Tattoo
This was pretty much down to me not getting round to booking it. I know exactly what i want but I've literally just not got around to going in and making an appointment.

3. Learn How To Drive (or start lessons at least)
I don't why but I've been putting my lessons off for years now. I really want to learn how to drive but a part of me is a little scared so i keep putting it off. Definitely next year though.

4. Go a whole day without Swearing
I don't really know why i haven't done this one. I'm ashamed to admit that i can have quite a potty mouth but I'm really trying to not swear as much because its not a nice habit to have.

5. Go to the Harry Potter Studios in London
This makes me so sad :( i did actually have a trip to London planned and i was hopefully going to go to the tour but things got in the way and it got delayed and then we just didn't get round to booking it which is really sad.

6. Do a Proper OOTD Post
Theres a few reasons as to why i haven't been able to do this. First, i don't have a good background to take the photos - my house is quite small and so it the yard so they wouldn't look good. Secondly, i need someone to take the photos. Thirdly, i don't have a great figure and i have body confidence issues to although i really want to do OOTDS, i get scared and really conscious about it so i always put it off.

7. Get a Proper Skincare Routine
This is purely because I'm still looking for the right set of products that work for me. I'm still trialling out different things and so far I've not settled on a routine that makes me really happy.

8. Watch all Star Wars Movies
I've just not got round to sitting down and watching them - my friends were rather disappointed when they found out i hadn't seen them so i promised i would but I'm still yet to do it. I watched one of them though.

9. Get my eyebrows threaded
I'm really curious to see what its like but like a lot of these last ones i just haven't got around to doing it.

10. Attend IMATS
I was really hoping to go this year but i didn't have anyone to go with so i didn't go.

11. Get Hair Extensions
I really want to have long(er) hair - like down to my waist long and also i think extensions will add some volume to my hair too. I worry about ordering them online incase they don't match my hair so I've just not gotten any yet.

12. Visit Harrods
This would have tied in with the London trip - I've been to London four times and not once have i been in Harrods so next time i go i hope to change that.

13. Drop a dress size
Well, this clearly did not happen because i have a silly sweet tooth.

14. Start a Beauty Channel on Youtube
Technically, i do have an account but i get too scared to upload any videos. One day it will happen but not right now.

15. Learn 3 New Hairstyles
I was getting tired of not knowing what to do with my hair and always wearing the same styles so i wanted to challenge myself to learn some new ones. I did learn a few but not three of them.

16. Get my fortune told/Palm read
Id really love to have this done - but I'm a bit sceptic and i also worry about what they might say. I know, its not factual and to be honest, half of them are just making it up as you go along but i know a part of me would really cling onto what they say and so i always put off having it done.

17. Complete my Mac Eyeshadow Quad
I won a quad palette in a giveaway last Christmas that has one eyeshadow in it and i really wanted to fill it up but i have so many palettes that i can't really justify buying three more eyeshadows that i don't need. I will fill it at some point but i'm not in any rush too.

18. Get the 5 Year Q&A Diary
I love the idea and concept behind this but i just haven't gotten round to ordering myself one.

19. Meet someone famous
This was a random and silly goal but it is possible. Ive met a few famous people but not during this challenge which is a shame.

20. Go to Alton Towers, again
I've only been once before and that was about 7 years ago and i bruised my ribs on Nemisis so i didn't enjoy it quite as much. Id love to go back and go on all the bigger rides that i avoided last time.

21. **** ** ********* **** ******* *** ***** **
This was a personal one that's going to stay personal.

22. Reach 1,000 followers on Blog Lovin'
I'm currently at 826 which is really amazing, and I'm not all that far away from 1000 so it's definitely possible in the next challenge.

So yeah, I've really enjoyed this challenge and i find having these goals and challenge myself with a time limit quite motivating and its so satisfying crossing them off. Ideally, i would have loved to achieve all 101 but 79 is definitely a good amount. I am actually going to start another 101 things in 1001 days in the new year so keep an eye out for that post if you'd like to see my new set of goals.

Have you been doing the 101 things in 1001 days challenge?

Concealers and correctors are products that i am yet to find one that really blows me away. For the past few months however, i have been using the Studio 10 Age Defy Skin Perfector* in Fair/Light - i don't normally enjoy concealers that are in pan form but this palette retails for £32 so i decided to give it go and see if it's worth the money.

The packaging itself is sleek and luxurious, the size and sturdiness of it also makes it the ideal companion for travelling not to mention it has a large mirror and has multiple products in one, meaning you carry less with you. The palette comes with; a primer, two concealers, a green corrector and a peach corrector.

The primer in the palette is probably the item I've used the least as I'm unsure whether it's supposed to be a primer for the face, for your eyes or to be used as a base for the concealer and correctors. I just don't know but it is soft and creamy and has a slight satin-y feel to it. The two concealers you get are light in shade but concealer 2 is slightly darker. I use concealer 1 the most as i feel it's better suited to me and it works well both under the eyes and on the blemishes - it covers them without looking to cakey, they actually have a creamy formula which makes it really easy to blend them out. I only use the green corrector when i have any red patches particularly around any blemishes because the green helps to counteract the redness which in turn makes it much easier to cover them up. The peach corrector is probably the one part of the palette that has made the biggest difference for me. The peach tone counteracts any blue/purple tones so this works on correcting the dark circles and that makes it so much easier to conceal.

Both correctors have a really creamy and easy to blend formula and you would think using these and then layering concealer over would leave it looking cakey but it really doesn't. I've only really bothered with concealer and i never really thought using a corrector would make any difference but since trying this palette and using the peach corrector before concealing I've noticed quite a difference and so far this is the best I've every managed to cover them up.

I'm still on the look out for my 'holy grail' concealer but for now the Studio 10 Age Defy Skin Perfector is doing a damn good job.

What's your favourite concealer?
