I'm always looking to try new brow products because I'm yet to find that holy grail that gives me the brows that i want. I want my brows to looks neat and full but still remaining very natural and its hard to find a product that gives me those results and is easy to use - i have quite thick and unruly brows that stick up in every other direction so something that can control those whilst require very little effort is exactly what i need - any recommendations, do let me know? I have encountered a few brow products that I've liked a lot but none have ticked all of the boxes so I'm still on my quest to find that ultimate one. Lately, I've been trying out Rimmel's Brow This Way Styling Gel (£3.99 - available here)
For the past year I've been using the Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Brown to set my brows in place and when i finally accepted that it had ran out i decided to try Rimmel's offering.
The styling gel is basically like a miniature mascara; you can use the brush to groom your eyebrows into place and it transfer colour filling them in at the same time. For me, personally the wand transfers far too much product which causes my brows to look really dark and overdone which isn't a look i like or suit very well so when i use this i tend to either wipe the wand to remove the excess and then apply it or I'll apply it and then use a spooly brush and try to brush out the excess. I had a very similar problem to this with the Maybelline one as well but after a while the formula starts to dry so it applies much easier and less full on.
I have the shade dark brown because that's the shade i felt would be most suited to me and it's also the same shade i got in the Maybelline one so i assumed it would be right. I do think i could actually get away with using mid brown thought because the dark brown does actually darken my brows, thankfully i can get away with it but I'm intrigued as to whether the mid brown would be a bit more natural looking.
It is a nice brow product; it's definitely not my favourite one but its an easy, no-fuss way to do your brows on a day to day basis. I find it good to use for work because i don't look overdone but my brows stay in place all day and it looks like I've made some effort too. Unfortunately, because it's a wand applicator it doesn't fill in the brows properly, it does add colour and make them look a little fuller but it's not as easy to fill in the sparse hairs, at least not in a manner that looks nice or natural.
I feel like this post sounds like I'm hating on it but I'm actually not - i do in fact quite like this Brow Styling Gel, it's just one of those products that's hit and miss. If i was really putting effort into my make up then i probably wouldn't opt for this product but for everyday wear it's affordable and does the job.
Do let me know your brow product recommendations?
