Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipsticks

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipsticks

Before i start this review can i please just brag at how well these photos turned out? Like seriously, im so happy with them. I picked up these Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipsticks from the Car Boot Sale (See my haul post here) they were brand new, still sealed and £1 each, how could i have possibly passed them by?

These lipsticks have a really nice formula; they're quite creamy and apply nicely to the lips. The pigmentation is great; the Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipsticks all seem to be quite bright and bold colours so the sheer, satin finish that they have makes them very wearable.

Even when the colour fades off, it still keeps a slight stain of colour on the lips so they last ages. I really like the packaging of these too as they're quite quirky but they look really pretty too. I thought i was being really good and showing restraint by only picking up two of them but I'm actually kicking myself for not getting the other shades that were there too, especially for the price.

Sugar Plum, Petal Pink

The two shades i have are Petal Pink and Sugar Plum; Petal Pink is a very bright almost bubblegum pink, it looks gorgeous in the bullet and when swatched on the hand but on my lips its just a bit too bright and it washes out my complexion. However, I've found that by dabbing tissue over and remove some of the product the pink isn't as intense and the pink is less harsh on me so all is not lost with this shade.

Sugar Plum is definitely my favourite of the two and the one I've reached for the most; it's a really gorgeous pink toned plum. Purple shades aren't always too forgiving on me - Mac's Up The Amp for example looked awful on me and i didn't suit it at all but because 'Sugar Plum' has more of a pink tone to it, it's much more wearable.  It's such an easy lipstick to wear and I'm really loving having it in my collection.

These lipsticks retail for £6.99 each so they are still quite affordable anyways and i would quite happily pay that for these lipsticks, they're really lovely lip products and i just wish I'd gotten more of them why i had the chance too.

Have you tried the Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipsticks?

  3. I'm not fantastic with dark tones either, unless they are more subtle like this one. I'd love to give it a try :)

  4. Loving the plum shade! I've never been sure if they would suit me but if this is more forgiving I might give it a go!
