I absolutely love instagram and can quite happy spend far too much time browsing through and liking peoples photos. My instagram feed is definitely not as perfect as others, i personally don't stick to a particular theme as i prefer to post whatever i feel like whether it be staged or candid photos but i thought id share with you how i like to edit my photos.
There is nothing groundbreaking about how i choose to edit my photos. in fact it's rather easy but i love how it makes my photos look.
I don't edit my photos in Instagram; i prefer to edit my photos in the app Afterlight - it's a brilliant app for editing photos and their are so many different things to play around with so if you want more options to what instagram offers, it may be worth checking out!
After I've taking about a billion photos and gone through and picked the best of the bunch, i opened the photo up in Afterlight and the first thing i always do is crop the photo. I opt for the square option as that what's going to be seen in instagram and then play around with it to get the best cropping of the image.
I then have a play around with the different settings; there are loads to choose from on here and i can spend ages trying all the different ones out but for the majority of photos i like to alter the clarity, contrast and brightness. These three alone can have a massive impact on your improving your photos.
Next, is the good ole' filters; there are tonnes to choose from on here but i always find myself using the same one every time. I don't quite know why it just adds a really nice effect to the photos. The filter i use is 'Brook' which is in the 'Seasons' section. I do play around with the bar at the bottom which can alter how visible the filter is, depending on the photo that I'm editing as sometimes it's not always needed.
That is pretty much all i do, as i mentioned earlier it is nothing groundbreaking but i love how they make my photos look. Sometimes i do like to add grainy layer over - i don't know the official term for it but if you want a photo to have more of a vintage type feel it really helps.
I love editing my photos and playing around with all the various settings, i do have the app Fotor too which is fairly similar but i can't get into using that just yet as i really like using Afterlight. If you'd like to follow me on instagram or just generally have a gander at my feed - feel free to do so, my link is here. Also, feel free to leave a link to your own instagram in the comments below, I'd love to follow some more people!
