Review | Maybelline Master Smokey Shadow Pencil in Smokey Black

If you saw my recent Car Boot Sale Haul (See Here) you'll know that i picked up the Maybelline Master Smokey Shadow Pencil in Smokey Black for £1. I always envy that edgy smokey eye look people achieve with pencil eyeliner and this seems like the perfect product to achieve that.

The pencil is dual ended; one side the pencil and the other a doufat like sponge you use to blend it out. The pencil is a chunky eyeliner pencil with a creamy formula that glides really easily along the skin. As it's creamy; it makes it much easier and smoother to blend it all out.

I don't know if there is specific way to use this but i just line my eyes with the pencil and then use the sponge to blend along the line and then go back in with the liner to line it again. You can keep building it up for something more intense but i tend to keep it quite simple to avoid looking to much like panda.

It lasts in place really well and considering it's so creamy and easy to blend out, it doesn't smudge around the eyes. I have the shade 'Smokey Black' - it's just a black pencil liner but the colour is really intense and pigmented which i really like.

I look quite ghost like on this photo, i think it's because im not wearing any lipstick but i hope it gives you a good idea of what the Smokey Shadow Pencil looks like. I think it's brilliant make up product and so easy to achieve that smokey look but i personally don't know if i suit it myself. It's a lot darker than what i'm used to doing on my eyes, so i think it might just feel a bit alien to me.

What do you think?

  1. This looks like an awesome product! I've stopped using pencil liners, but I love how smoky this one looks!
