Review | Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks

Quite a while ago, Superdrug had an offer on and were selling the Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks for £3.99 (Originally £7.99) after seeing the offer i decided that i wanted to treat myself to some and ending up picking four shades. There was also a 3 for two offer on (didn't realise this at the time) so i ended up saving even more money.

I find these lipsticks to be quite hit and miss; first of all the images of the shade selection on the Superdrug website are nothing like the actual shades themselves - I tried to pick up a varied mix of shades but Ive ended up with pretty similar shades because of it, possibly my own fault for not researching but still their swatches aren't even similar.

Onto the lipsticks themselves; they do actually have a really lovely creamy formula - they're actually pretty similar to their Lip Butter range except they are way more pigmented and apply opaque.I do actually really like the formula of these lipsticks and they actually have a really lovely scent but i just don't find myself reaching for them that often.

Poinsetta is the deeper red shade out of the two i got, where Gladiolus is more of true red. They are both quite similar shades but there is slight differences in the tone of red. Hibiscus is probably the post used out of them all as it's really gorgeous orangey/coral shade, i wore this a lot on holiday and found it really beautiful colour to wear during the summer. Dahlia is a shade I've not worn and the one i am most disappointed with. On the website it looks like a really gorgeous plummy purple shade (see here) but it's actually a dark brown toned red.

The lipsticks themselves are really nice; they have a lovely formula, great pigmentation and even have a really lovely scent but i just don't find myself reaching for them enough. I don't hate them but i don't love them either. They have some lovely shades available but I'd recommend going to a stand to check them out rather than trusting the shades on the websites.

Have you tried the Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks?

  2. I've only got the one shade in these and absolutely love it so am looking forward to picking up more shades. Sorry to hear that they didn't turn out how you expected them to but this is why I only buy lipsticks where I can physically try them out on my skin!!

    Great post!!

  3. It's terrible that the website shades didn't match what you actually saw! I hate that and it can really throw things off if you have a shade that washes you out! Though I will say that even though you didn't get what you had hoped you picked out a bunch of really beautiful shades. I adore the look of Hibiscus as well as Dahlia. Those shades are gorgeous
