Review | The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer AKA The Luminizer

Review | The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer AKA The Luminizer

I've never tried anything from The Balm before; i was constantly hearing The Mary-Lou Manizer having it's praises sung and recently I've really been loving a good highlighter. It's amazing how a sweep of it can really brighten up your complexion and give your skin a lovely glow. So when i saw that it was one of the beauty items available in the Airplane's Duty Free Magazine, i knew it would be coming home with me.

At first, i was a little worried that i might have wasted my money because i just didn't find myself reaching for it as much as i thought i initially would have. Thankfully i persisted and the more I'm using it, the more i understand why everyone love this highlighter.

This highlighter is stunning, it's such a dreamy product - i always thought i preferred a pink toned highlighter but this gives the most beautiful golden glow to the complexion. It's really good quality and the powder is really fine and butter and applies to skin so easily. It does have a golden shimmer running through it and looking at it you'd think that it would turn you into a disco ball but the shimmer is really subtle and it's perfect to wear for both day or night.

I like to apply this to the top of my cheekbones and under the brow bone and i like to dust what ever is left over on the brush on the middle of the forehead, down the centre of the nose and my cupids bow too. It sounds a lot but i promise it doesn't look a lot, it just brighten up the face and gives it a really gorgeous and subtle glow.

I really like the packaging of this product, it's quirky and fun but it still has a quality and luxury feel to the product. The compact is really sturdy, you can tell it's not a cheap product and it won't damage easy. I also really like that it has a big mirror inside.

It normally retails for £17.50 so it's definitely not on the cheaper end of the scale - the Airplane was selling this for £14 and thanks to a scratchcard i got a further £2 off so i only paid £12 in total but to be honest, i would pay the full £17.50 for it. It was a slow start but i really like this highlighter. It's such good quality and the glow it gives is gorgeous.

What's your favourite highlighter?

  3. This is the product it's taking me so long to buy because it's not available in our area. I'm afraid to buy it online and shipped to me broken. Never heard any bad review about it yet!
