FOTD | Date Night Make Up

As the big V-Day event looms, i thought it would be the perfect excuse to share with you how I'd wear my make up for date night. I don't actually have any plans for V-Day; I'm going on a birthday night out, the night before so no doubt I'll be waking up in a hungover state. However, if i was going somewhere special this is the look i think I'd wear.

Just a little side note, i would make more of an effort with my outfit, and i wouldn't wear the chunky knit that im wearing in these photos i was just a little cold. Also, if the photos look like i've gone a bit brightness/contrast happy please excuse that i'm just trying to disguise the fact that my upper lip is in need of waxing (possibly tmi, but oh well). Also, if you're wondering i curled my hair with the Enrapture Totem Styler on the combination 2-2-2.

I love a bold lip and i think there is nothing classier than a classic red but if i was going on a date i would go for a more simple make up look. I'd want to still look like myself but just enhance the better parts and I'd personally choose a neutral lip just incase i was to get a little kiss, i wouldn't want my red lip smudged all around my face (but that's just me) If you have a signature look and you always wear a bold lip - don't change that, unless you want to.

My base isn't really any different to usual; i kept it light with my Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua Foundation and only concealing were necessary. I added a subtle contour with the Freedom Pro Contour Shaped Stick just to add some definition to the face, i then set that with my Seventeen Miracle Matte Pressed Powder*, added a touch of Benefit Dandelion Blush to add some colour to the cheeks and finished off with The Balm Mary Lou Manizer to add a little glow to the complexion.

I kept my brows really simple because they're covered by my fringe anyways but i filled them in with the Max Factor Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel* and set those in place with Catrice Fixing Brow Wax.

I wanted something a little heavier on the eyes to make them more of a focal point but nothing too high maintenance that I'd need to check on it all the time. I started by blending Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in I Wear Plum Glasses At Night through the crease, for the rest of the look i used my Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Palette, i took Skimp and applied that all over the lid and blended it into the crease and instead of applying my usual felt tip liner i blended the shade Undone along my lash line to add a little edginess (is that a word?) to the look.

I also tight lined with the MeMeMe Eye Line Pencil Eyeliner in Coal to make my lashes look fuller and i also applied it 3/4 along the bottom. I applied my beloved Max Factor Velvet Volume False Lash Effect Mascara* and Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara I kept my brows really simple because they're covered by my fringe anyways but i filled them in with the Max Factor Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel* and set those in place with Catrice Fixing Brow Wax.

My lips actually turned out my favourite part of this make up look. I wanted a nude lip but decided to try something a little bolder than a pink nude that I'd normally opt for so i lined my lips with the Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lipliner in Spice and then applied Essence Longlasting Lipstick in Come Naturally over the top and it's given it a mauve tone to the nude and i really like how it looks. It's also a lip colour that will fade naturally over the evening so you won't have to worry about maintaining it.

Have you got plans for Valentines Day? How will you be wearing your make-up?

  1. Fab post lovely, some really great picks! I’ve really been loving the Max Factor Lash Effect Mascara, it really helps add volume to the lashes :) I don’t actually so going on Friday instead but gonna go for a subtle eye with a bold lip :)
