Strobing may be taking over the make up world but I'm still very partial to a good contour. I love just how a simple step can make such a difference to your make up and add such definition to your face. It's taken me a while to find the right products but i feel like I've developed a routine that works well for me.
For the majority of my contouring i use the Freedom Pro Contour Shaped Stick in Fair - i outline where i want highlighting with the lighter side; i apply it in a triangular shape under the eyes and in the middle of the forehead, i also apply it down the nose and above the cupids bow. I then take the other end to draw where i want to define and contour mostly where the shadows would naturally fall so i apply it along the top of my forehead, down the sides of my nose, underneath the jawbone and underneath the cheek bone.
You don't have to apply it to everyone of those places and i only really do it if I'm doing a full face of make up. Once I'm happy with where I've applied it all, i take a beauty blender and blend it all in. I then lightly apply my face powder over to help set it in place but it also blend in any thing that i may have missed.
If I'm going out i like to emphasise my contour so after I've set the cream contour in place with my face powder i use my Studio 10 Visible Lift Face Definer* and apply the powder contour over the top. I like to apply it with a light hand because whilst i want to emphasise the contour, i don't want to look too overdone.
I also like to apply the The Balm Mary Lou Manizer along the cheek bones, down the nose, the middle of the forehead, cupids bow and along the brow bone because as it's a shimmery highlighter it gives the skin a really beautiful glow and it compliments the contour really nicely too.
If I'm contouring for general day to day wear, i apply a touch of Benefit Hoola Bronzer in the same places as the contour (after I've applied my face powder), it warms up the face really nice and emphasis the natural definition from the cream contour underneath.
I really like all of these products and they work wonderfully alone but together i feel like I've found the perfect way to achieve a natural contour for day to day wear and something a little stronger for the evening.
