I've decided now that a new month is upon us, i want a fresh start. A clean slate if you will. April is my absolute favourite month, not only is is my birthday month but i like the feeling of change that comes along with it too - It's the month when Spring really starts to set in and everywhere starts to transform and bloom so after March being a poopy month, i'm doing my best to be a bit more positive.
Onto this actual post; thanks to Pinterest, i recently got sucked into the world of Bullet Journalling and it's safe to say I've become obsessed. I really wanted to do a post to share with you what it is and why i chose to start one.
If you don't know what a Bullet Journal is, it's a analog system using rapid logging created by Ryder Carroll. The main components being an index and a key. This website here is very helpful and explains it a lot better than me.
Initially, I'd love to have a proper planner like the Erin Condren one but i personally just can't justify the price so Bullet Journalling is the next best thing for me. All you need a notebook and some decent pens - I personally use a squared moleskin. Before jumping into it, i did a lot of research on Pinterest and Tumblr and i got so obsessed that i couldn't wait to start one for myself. I'd highly recommend browsing Bullet Journals on Pinterest if it's something you want to learn more about it. I find it so inspiring looking at everyones pages and layouts to draw inspiration from them.
The reason i love Bullet Journalling so much is because you can cater it how you want it. You can choose to leave it plain, to decorate it or to doodle all over it - you can decided what pages you want in it, you make it work for you! You don't have to have all the pages everyone else has - if you want a day a page or you just want a weekly overview you can do that. You can dedicate pages to anything; reading, music, quotes...
Ive only shared two photos of mine; a weekly overview for March 21st-27th and as you can see i like to decorate my pages with colours and lots of washi tape - i personally prefer the decorative approach and i find washi tape and colourful pens really help me do that. You can customise it however you want it, i like writing quotes on them and Ive added a weekly meal plan to see if it's something I'd benefit from but that didn't work as well as I'd hope. The other is two more pages which as a blogger, i try to cater my bullet journal to help me track blog stuff so each month i have a page to track my monthly favourites and goals and also what blog posts I'm posting.
Whenever i have diaries or planners i often find lots of pages go to waste where with this i can choose what pages i want and if i find a page isn't working for me then i just won't include it for the following month. If it is something you're interested in learning more about I'd highly recommend Pinterest as you can see all the different way people approach and customise their bullet journals and see what might work for - there is no right or wrong way to do it.
I adore my bullet journal; i find myself wanting to be more productive because it's really satisfying marking something off the daily to do list or off one of the other trackers in there. I keep it in my handbag with me and i try to plan my pages one week at a time so i don't get too far ahead of myself.
I'm thinking about doing some more Bullet Journal related posts; like the things i use for it, a flip through of my bullet journal and maybe even some plan with me kind of posts.
Do you bullet journal?
