Footloose | Liverpool Empire

Footloose is one of my all time favourite movies (the original one, of course), so when i discovered it was the musical tour was returning to Liverpool Empire, there was no way i was going to be missing it.

I went watching the Footloose Musical at Liverpool Empire, 5 years ago when Matt Willis was playing Chuck - it was incredible and i also met Matt Willis after it (he was awesome and smelled incredible) It's really something to watch a film you love so much come to life so i was really excited to get to relive that exciting and watch it again.

Before the show we went for tea as we usually do - we don't really pick anywhere exciting it's usually Mcdonalds or KFC. I've recently joined Slimming World so tea was a bit stressful and i didn't want my sister to miss out so we still went to Mcdonalds and i got a salad - yes, thats right! I was that person sat in Mcdonalds surrounded by people eating an array of tempting burgers and i got a salad. I am so proud of myself, not to mention instead of my usual array of sweet treats to eat during the show i bought a fruit salad (who am i?)

Back to the show, we actually had really good seats and was sat in the stalls this time instead of the usual place so it was nice to switch it up. As expected the show did not disappoint, i didn't think it was as good as the first time i watched it but it was extremely enjoyable nonetheless.

If you aren't familiar with the story of Footloose, it's about Ren Mccormick who moves from Chicago to a small town called Bomont; after a terrible accident a few years previous, loud music and dancing is against the law. So Ren decides to challenge the reverand and councilmen to get the law removed.

The cast was really talented and they all played the instruments that provided the music for the show, there wasn't an orchestra in the pit like there usually would be, which i did think it was really good but it was also a bit distracting. Luke Baker made an excellent portrayal of Ren but the asbolutely stand out for me had to be Lee Brennan as Willard (he used to be in 911) - he was incredible and brought so much humour to the character and the show.

My outfit was very simple (it's not visible on photos because im too scared to do ootds) i wore my blue skinny jeans with a navy cold shoulder top and my plain flats. I wore my hair up; i braided down the sides and then like rolled the rest of the hair at the back - as the weather was quite warm i didn't want to wear my hair down and i really like how it turned out.

My make up was pretty much the same as i always wear it except i had a play around with the Zoeva En Taupe Eyeshadow palette and created a taupe (slightly lilac) eye and i really liked how it turned out. I paired that with Mac Lipstick in Creme Cup, this used to be my absolute favourite lipstick and i forgot how much i loved it.

It's definitely a show worth watching whether you're a massive Footloose fan like myself or just someone who enjoy's theatre. It's a brilliant show and im really glad i got to see it again.

Have you been to the theatre lately?
