I've not written any posts this past week because I've been in hospital having a operation (it's nothing major, don't worry) but also truth be told my heart just hasn't been in it. I feel like I'm stuck in a rut with my blog, so i need to work on that a lot more, for now though, here's a review of my current favourite lip combination.
This lip combination is one i never thought I'd love as much as i do - much to my dismay, it is very Kylie Jenner but I'm obsessed with it. At the end of May, my family went on holiday so i sent my sister with strict instructions to buy me Mac Mehr Lipstick at the airport - as well as that, they spoiled me rotten and brought back a whole host of presents - including Mac Soar Lipliner and together, these two are quite the dream team.
To be honest with you; i personally wouldn't like to pay around £13 for a lipliner as i don't feel like i wear them enough to justify the price tag. Saying that though, i really do like this lipliner and i think if i reached the point of using this up i probably would repurchase it.
This is my very first Mac Lipliner so i cant comment on all of the formula's but 'Soar' is very easy to work with, i personally don't overdraw my lips as i think they are big enough but this is a really lovely liner to define the edges and fill them in to provide a nice base for the lipstick. You could quite easily wearing this lipliner alone as the shade 'Soar' is a gorgeous pink-ish brown shade.
Personally, I've not worn it alone yet as i love to pair it with Mac Mehr Lipstick.
A lot of websites described 'Mehr' as dirty blue pink - to be honest, i don't know what that means. I'd describe it as a brownish pink with a slight plummy tone to it. It is a matte formula, which isn't one of my favourite but I'm really growing to love them especially with this lipstick - it's not as drying as you'd expect a matte formula to be and paired with the lipliner, the lasting power is pretty decent. I've not actually tested this lipstick alone because i love the combination of the two together.
There is something about wearing this combination that makes me feel quite sophisticated, like I'm an actual adult - not that i look like a actual adult in the photos, with my bed head looking hair. It's a combination that is easy to wear for a daytime look, simple and classy but it can just as easily be worn for the evening. It's so versatile and I'm obsessed with it.
Not so long ago, i would never have dreamed of pulling off quite a brown toned lip as i felt it was something i would never suit but I've received many compliments when wearing this. If this kind of lip is something you'd be interested in but haven't got round to trying it yet - go for it! Whether you use the same products as me or search for other similar dupes, just give it ago - sometimes it's good to try something different and who knows you might surprise yourself.
What lip combination are you loving at the moment?
