My Travel Make Up

My Travel Make Up

I'm heading to Scotland in the morning to visit family (hello, 8 hour drive), i've never been to Scotland before so i'm looking forward to see what it's like and to see some of my family too. As we're only going for 5 days, i'm trying to be as minimal as possible with my packing. I've had a bit of hard time deciding on which products i wanted to take but i think i've narrowed it down to the perfect amount with options too.

This is actually the second time i've done this post and the photos because i changed the foundation im taking, added an eyeliner and some other products and after all that my face powder smashed so i'm now using a different one - so i just decided to re-do it all again.

My Travel Make Up

I've not decided whether i'm going to take a face primer or not but i recently picked up the Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Fluid Touch Foundation from B&M for £3.49 and i'm enjoying it so far as it provides a nice, light base and it's easy to apply. I've opted for the Sleek Corrector and Concealer Kit and also my Seventeen Stay Time Full Cover Concealer, i was just going to take the Sleek kit, but a lovely unwanted guest as appeared on my chin so im taking the Seventeen one too.

The new face powder i'm using is the Beauty UK Compact Face Powder - i'm really not fussy with face powders as long as it matches my skintone and sets my base in place, im pretty content with it and so far this does exactly that! I'm taking my trusty Maybelline Brow Satin to fill in my brows and i also sometimes use it to line under the eye as well and to set my brows i'm still loving the H&M Eye Brow Fix.

I'm taking some of my contact lenses too, just incase it's sunny and i want to wear my sunglasses as wearing them over my glasses just isn't a look i can pull off and also, i'll wear them if we go out for a meal on an evening.

I've decided to take the Rosie Huntington Whitely for Autograph Eyeshadow Quad in Copper Gold Rush - i really like this palette but i've not been using it much lately. The selection of shades gives me the option for a simple everyday shade or i can add one of the darker shades in the crease and outer corner for a more bolder and dressed up eye look and if i don't want eyeshadow, im also taking my go to base Mac's Painterly Paint Pot.

My Smashbox Step By Step Contour Kit is a bronzer, contour and highlight in one so it means less products for me to carry but i have the options there if i want them too and i can't not have a lip balm with me so im taking my Burts Bees Lip Balm but this will probably go into my handbag rather than my make up bag.

As for blush, i've not fully decided which im going to take so i've just included them both in this post for now and i'll just pick one before i go (or maybe i'll just take both) but i really love the brightness of the Bobbi Brown Blush in Pale Pink as it's such a beautiful shade. I'm also torn over whether to choose the Mac Blush in Peaches, it's the complete other end of the spectrum compared to the Bobbi Brown Blush but there is something i really like about this muted peachy shade and i feel like this will compliment most looks.

My Travel Make Up

For eyeliners, i'm taking my Max Factor Eyeliner Pencil in Brown and my Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner and i've decided to take my Max Factor HD Mascara because it gives a really nice amount of length and it may sounds stupid but i didn't want to take my Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara as i wanted to save it (is that silly?)

Naturally, i couldn't just pick one lip product but i think i've done well because i've only picked three - my trust Mac Soar Lip Liner and Mac Mehr Lipstick combination is coming with me, i adore wearing this but i think this will be great if i want a more dressed up look. I love wearing the Essence Velvet Stick Matte Lip Colour in Peony Star for general day to day wear but i'm also taking Mac Creme Cup Lipstick in case i just want a nice light, nude lip.

To some people this may seem like a lot but i think i've done really well at narrowing it down, i've got enough for a full face of make up with a few options thrown in too. Also, if you're interested my Make Up Bag is from Primark, but i bought it a good few years ago so i don't think it'll be available anymore.

What products do you like to take with you when you're travelling?

  3. This was such a helpful post. I'm getting ready to go to my sister's wedding & will be away for a couple of days. I'm trying not to pack too much, but it's hard. This post has really inspired me to take as little as possible & really think about what I'm actually going to use. I've decided on my makeup for the day (other than which foundation to take) so now I just need to narrow down my options for the day before & day after. Something simple I think, as I'm likely not going to have much time or energy to do anything elaborate. Xx
