I definitely did not need any more lipsticks; my collection is absolutely ridiculous for one face but i kept seeing so many good reviews about these Barry M Matte Me Up Liquid Lip Paints that i was very tempted to try them for myself.
Now i was determined to be strong and not cave but when i saw that Superdrug were selling the Barry M Matte Me Up Liquid Lip Paints 5 for £15, i knew I'd be fool to miss out on that offer and I'd only kick myself if i didn't get them so here we are with the full range of shades - now, that particular offer isn't on anymore but at the moment Superdrug are doing 3 for 2 on Barry M and Boots are giving a free gift when you spend £7!
I'm actually quite impressed with these liquid lip paints; I'd heard so many great reviews that i was almost expected to be disappointed but they're actually really nice. They have quite a runny formula which i personally like because it makes it much easier to remove the excess product from the doufat (i prefer to apply thin layers with liquid lipsticks as it's less likely to crumble). They apply quite easily and glide across the lips - i would recommend taking your time as it is a runny formula and if it smudges, it can become a bit of a mess.
Once they dry they do more or less stay in place for hours - the only time they really do wear down is when eating, I've found that whenever i eat whilst wearing these lip products I'm left with a bit of a dodgy lip line as it wears away the middle of your lips. Thankfully, because they have such a thin formula it's easily to reapply.
I also have to comment on the packaging of these - considering they're only £4.99 which is very affordable, they have quite nice packaging, the tubes feel like they're made of glass. I may be wrong, but they don't feel like the typical plastic tubes that you usually get with a liquid lipstick. These are all quite bold, statement lip shades and if you are looking for a cheap option for liquid lipsticks then these are definitely worth checking out!
I apologise for the amount of photos of my face you are about to be face with but i wanted to show you how they look on as well as swatched.
Minimalist is a pinky peach nude shade. It's really pretty and the pink is actually really subtle; i feel like this is going to be an easy everyday shade or the perfect lip to pair with a bold smokey eye.
Pop Up is a pink toned cherry red shade - i feel like this is the one lipstick that I'll get the least use out of as i rarely wear bold pink lips anymore but i do think this is really a beautiful colour and i think that it'd be really lovely to wear during spring so who knows.
Paparazzi is a bright classic red shade. It's really pretty, I've gotten so used to wearing dark reds that i almost felt a bit alien in this shade at first. I adore wearing a red lip and this colour is so pretty.
On The Scene is a classic nude shade, it looks very similar to Minimalist except On the Scene is more of a brown toned- i don't really think you need both of these as they are very similar to each other but this is a beautiful nude shade nonetheless.
Embellish is a purply/ deep violet shade and it's beautiful. I love my purply shades as I'm sure you know - this is a lot brighter than the purples i am used to wearing but it almost reminds me a little bit of Mac Rebel just in liquid lipstick form and i used to wear that lipstick a lot.
Overall, i honestly think these are really good liquid lipsticks; they are such a great affordable option and they're really good quality too. I love liquid lipstick but i hate ones that are tacky and that you can feel you're wearing but this isn't like this at all!
