Recently, there seems to be quite a craze of bright quirky lip colours and normally I'd turn a blind eye and avoid it like the plaque but I've found myself obsessed with wanting to try some of these bold, quirky lip colours so i found myself on Superdrug ordering myself some.
MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in Splash
I never ever thought in a million years that I'd ever want a blue lipstick - it's definitely has a hint of green and looks more turquoise on than the blue it appears in the tube but it's so pretty. I personally feel like i really suit this shade and i never would have thought that, it's such an unusual shade but i really like it. I'm also really impressed with the formula of these Velvet Lip Lacquers as i honestly expected them to be a bit crap but they actually apply quite nicely, they dry comfortably and you barely feel like there's anything on the lips - not to mention, they smell really good!
MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in Potent
This is exactly the same as Splash in terms of formula, except of course Potent is black. I don't know why but I've been wanting a black liquid lipstick for ages but i didn't want to spend too much just in case i never really wore it outside the house. I don't know if everyone would agree but i personally think i kinda suit it - it gives such a edgy, gothic element to your make up and paired with a really simple eye (winged linger, lots of mascara) i really like it. You definitely have to be really careful with the application because it's not the easiest colour to remove but i really like it - I'm just building up the courage to wear it out now.
MUA Luxe Liquid Metallic Lipstick in Flash
This isn't really a 'bold lip colour' in the same respect as the blue, black and green but it's quite unusual and quirky because it has a metallic finish. I have to say, I'm a little bit disappointed in this one - the quality is lovely; it's really creamy, pigmented, applies lovely and it sits nicely on the lips but i don't really see the metallic finish. To me, it just looks like a lip gloss. The colour also doesn't look that great on me - i don't know if that's just because I've gotten used to wearing much darker reds but i just don't know if I'll get a lot of wear out of this.
Lottie London Matte Liquid Lipstick in Queenie
Again, green is never a colour i would have ever thought to pick in a lip colour but i was really drawn to this. I really like the Lottie London Matte Liquid Lipsticks; they have a lovely formula, they're very smooth and creamy and settle nicely onto the lips. Queenie is a lovely green shade - it actually looks very similar to Splash from MUA (mentioned above) but obviously, it is a little more green toned. Again, i think i quite suit this colour and I'm considering wearing this at the end of the week for St Paddy's Day.
I'm really loving these really bold and quirky lip colours; obviously, they are not for everyone and i respect that - heck, i haven't even been brave enough to wear them outside my house yet but i love how different they are. I apologise for the many photos of my face but i just felt this post needed more than a swatch on my hand.
What do you think about the really bold and quirky lip colours?
