May Favourites

On one hand I can't believe it's the 1st of June but on the other, i feel like May has been a very long month - I'd say I'm glad to the back on it, but nothing really changes all that much just because another month is rolling by. Anyways, today I'm sharing with you monthly favourites from things beauty to theatre shows!

May Favourites

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray*
I've reviewed this quite recently so i won't bang on about it too much but this setting spray has completely won me over. Ive tried two previous setting sprays that were from different high street brands and they didn't really so anything for me but whenever i used this Urban Decay one, i can see a massive difference. I mostly use it on nights out or occasions when i want my make up to last and by the end of the night my make up is more or less still in place. Don't get me wrong, my eyeliner sometimes smudges or there will be something out of place but very little moves compared to how it would look before i used this.

MACXFleurDeForce Cremesheen Mac Lipstick
Again, i reviewed this quite recently. I love this lipstick, it's such a gorgeous shade of nude - it's a shade you could dress up your make up with on nights out or special occasions but it's also subtle enough for general day to day wear. I adore the cremesheen formula because they're very moisturising and quite similar to a lip butter. I believe this lipstick is no longer available to buy now which is such a shame, I'm so glad i managed to get a hold of it when i did.

The Balm Mary Lou Manizer
I'm pretty sure everyone's familiar with this highlighter from The Balm - I've mentioned it on many occasions on my blog. As i ventured into trying out some other highlighters this slowly made its way to the back of my drawer but I've found myself using it again this month and i still love it just as much as i did first time round. It's gorgeous yellow almost golden toned highlighter and it just gives the skin the most beautiful glow. It blends into the skin seamlessly - this is perfect for people who want a noticeable glow but nothing too intense.

NYX Lip Lingerie in Corset
I picked this up in Manchester at the start of May and i don't actually know if I've spoken about it on my blog yet(?) but I'm really liking it. It's a nude liquid lipstick (shock horror) and if I'm not wearing the Fleur De Force Mac Lipstick then I'll most likely be wearing this. Corset is described as a Toffee Nude, I'm not quite sure what that's supposed to mean but I'd say it's quite a grey toned nude. They have a really nice formula, they're quite creamy but dry matte and then don't really budge after that. It's really comfortable to wear on the lips and I'm very impressed with these.

Lottie London Wing Woman Felt Tip Liner
I got this free a little while ago when i ordered some lip products from Lottie London and now that my last felt tip liner has started to dry up, I've started to use this and so far i like it a lot. It has a nice thin nib so you can really control your application, start small and then make it thicker as you go depending on how you like your liner, I've also found it quite easy to do my flicks at the end as well. It applies and dries black, it lasts on me all day with little smudging (unless i start rubbing my eyes) - i wear felt tip liner most days, so i like one that is quick and easy to use and this does the job perfectly.

Know Cosmetics No Dark Shadows Complexion Enhancer in Pizazz*
Last month in my favourites i mentioned the Revlon Colour Stay Concealer which I'm still loving but I've been pairing it with this product and it's a little dream team. The Know Cosmetics No Dark Shadows Complexion Enhancer helps to wake up under the eyes and enhance your complexion - i focus this product under my eyes more than anything and it helps to brighten and counter act any yellow tones. I then add my Revlon Colour Stay on top to lighten it up and it covers my under eyes and really helps to brighten them up.

Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer in 1
When I'm using the duo above - I've been reaching for this Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer, now i actually wasn't that impressed by this when i got it. It's really light so i felt like it was going to be useless so i pushed it to one side and barely used it. However, now that the weather is getting warmer i don't really want to be wearing a heavy base everyday so i decided to try this again and it's been great for the days you want something light and minimal. It's not a heavy coverage but it does cover enough, it blends out easily and it's been perfect for day to day wear on these warmer days. It also has cucumber and aloe extract in it so it's quite soothing too.

Other Favourites

Bruno Mars
I went to see Bruno Mars in Manchester at the start of month and he was incredible. It the second time I've seen him live and he really knows how to put on a show. He's full of energy from start to finish, as is his band and Hooligans - it's amazing and i would highly recommend going to one of his tours, if you get the chance too.

Billy Elliot
Billy Elliot is currently touring around the UK and i got my hands on some tickets as soon as i found out it was heading to Liverpool - i already knew it was going to be good but it completely exceeded my expectations, it was phenomenal. It honestly blew me away, the level of talent among the cast especially the kids and the way they dance was mind blowing.

Journalling
I've started journalling recently - which some people may find a little lame and that's fine but I've been finding it quite therapeutic. I've been keeping a written journal, so i just have a notebook where i write anything I'm thinking, feeling etc... and it's quite helpful just to address any things that are on my mind. I've also started a Magazine Journal, which is a bit more arty and creative - i try to do weekly spreads so i just pick out a few things from each week and journal them. They can be anything from theatre shows I've been to, nights out, books I've read to something as simple as eating a cake. I just really like picking something good from each day and documenting it. I don't really plan on showing either of these to anyone but I'm really enjoying doing them.

What are some of your favourites from this month?

  1. Fab post, lovely! *cries* I've not tried any of these products! I really want to try out the NYX lippys they seem to be everywhere lately, but I never get chance to check them out when I go to town with the BF (he's a man, of course he moans when I stop to look at something, ha!)
