Technic Metallix Shimmer in Halo

Technic Metallix Shimmer in Halo

Do you ever come across a product and you become obsessed with the idea of trying it? Well that's what happened to me with the Technic Metallix Shimmers - i searched my town high and low, i even tweeted for stockists (the website i was told didn't stock them or had shades i didn't want) until i resorted to Ebay and found a UK seller that sold (new) Technic products and finally it was mine - but the big question is, is it worth it?

Technic Metallix Shimmer in Halo

My main reason for this obsession is that in my head these were a cheaper alternative to the Stila Magnificent Metals which I'm dying to get my hands on but I'm just not quite ok with the £23 price tag so when i saw the Technic Metallix Shimmers, i thought maybe they could give me a similar effect? Now I've never tried the Stila ones, so i honestly can't make a proper comparison with both products - I'm simply assuming they could be similar.

The Technic Metallix Shimmer has quite a nice creamy formula, they can take a while to build up to get a fully opaque look as sometimes the product does move around on the lid so it can create patches if your not careful, but i find it easier to use the doufat applicator that it comes with rather than a brush because that takes even long. It does require some patience, so this definitely isn't a product to use if you need something quick and easy but i will say that it does dry pretty quickly and once it's fully dry it doesn't budge.

I've never just worn this alone as a single eye product so i actually can't comment on what it's like in that respect but generally, i do have a slight love/hate relationship with this product; i apply eyeshadow first into my crease and outer corners, keeping the area I'm applying the shimmer to clear and once I'm happy with with my eyeshadow i then use this. I don't love the length of time it takes to apply it and when you first apply it, there is a slight panic that you've just ruined it all and if you left it at that, then it would be a bit of a mess but one you go back into your eyeshadow and blend it in, removing the harsh line it actually looks really good.

I chose the shade Halo; it is described as a rose gold but I'd say it's more of a pink/nude champagne kind of shade. It's a really beautiful shade and i tend to pair this with some brown/nude eyeshadows to create a slight smokey look and even though you blend the eyeshadow back into the metallic shimmer, it really does stand out.

You go on quite a journey with this product - every time I've used this, I'm convinced I've messed up my eye make up until i add a bit more eyeshadow and finish it off and it honestly looks so good. It looks like you've gone to so much more effort and i find myself quite impressed with myself.

I really like this product - it's not perfect and does require some patience but i usually wear this on nights out or when i want a more full/glam make up look and i always set plenty of time aside on those occasions. Every time I've worn this it's stayed in place perfectly, it hasn't smudged or creased or even faded. It's such a bargain product and whilst i still want to try the Stila Magnificent Metals, I'm really happy to have a found a much cheaper alternative.

I bought this for a whopping £2.85, and there are so many other shades too that i really want to get my hands on (I'm on a kind of spending ban at the moment, so trying really hard not to go and order them all)

Have you tried the Technic Metallix Shimmers?

  1. Oooh this sounds fab! I've never heard of these, I think Technic is an underrated brand for sure. I'll have a look out for these. Have you tried looking in the Body Care shop? They tend to stock a lot of Technic products?

  2. Love the shade of this. Technic is such a great brand, I wish they would branch into Superdrug or somewhere, I don't have a Body Care locally.

    1. It would be so much easier if they did, i have a body care local to me but they don't stock a lot of their products and don't often get the newer releases!
